if you could design a barrel....
if you could design your own barrel, what would you make?
how long would the control bore be?
what material would you use?
how would the threading work?
what makes it different from what is already available?
ok let me be a little more specific.
high grade steel vs titanium sleeve for the control bore? not a fan of aluminum but im also not a chemist of physicist.
control bore length, so far the shaft 4 has given me the best results but is 8 inches too long?
how much porting is too much?

I would make a lapco tightbore, 9-10.5" control bore, aluminum, autococker threading. Nothing.

I'm not sure how I can simplify it any more...
Disruptive Deathtouch barrels. Made out of titanium.

And this is because there aren't really any more innovative things that can be done to barrels. The Deathtouch is basically my ideal barrel; lightweight, not made out of carbon fiber (can't stand CF barrels), long control bore, generous porting, and a range of bore sizes from .688 to .678.
I do suppose a barrel made out of tungsten would be unique...

I'd make a Lurker Eigenbarrel with a stainless steel inner bore and no outer detailing other than porting.

I'd have a barrel with a control bore of .680 that's 6 inches long, 4 inches of .687, then 5 more inches of .700

Lurker style barrel but about 13". .679-682-.685. you want to go about .003 sizes apart. under bore by about .003 max.e.g. shoot .688 paint out of .685 bore if you need to.

so when you say lurker style, you mean the exterior milling or the solid bore?

Probably something along the lines of a cf casing to give rigidity to a set of titanium inserts. The barrel would be 14" long, same with the inserts, new "tips"(Really an outer shell with barrel threading) could be bought for different guns, inserts would be interchangeable.
