Question REALLY quick barrel mod question...

Hey guys with the electrical tape barrel mod, if the strips of tape aren't aligned perfectly will it put a weird spin on the ball and mess up my shots? Thanks!

It's a mod for larger bore barrels (haven't got ahold of an underbored one yet) where you place strips of electrical tape on the inside of the barrel to hold the ball and stop roll outs.

I've used the tape mod on my CP 2-piece for three years - arrow straight shots without any obvious unusual curve/spin... remember the tape only has to fold into the barrel just enough to keep the ball from rolling down the barrel. If you have a piece that is too long it could affect the ball (I guess)...

I wouldn't think it would do anything too weird to the spin. Put just enough tape to hold the ball without getting a rollout. The air provides a pretty evenly distributed force behind the ball so I wouldn't expect the ball to spin too much.

That kind of gives me an idea for the tip of the barrel though. Ghetto apex barrel. Put some tape at the top of the rim of the barrel tip, maybe like 0.5" deep into the barrel (maybe layered a little to compensate for wide bores at the tip). I wonder if the friction would provide any bit of noticeable backspin. You may have to up your pressure a bit to compensate for the hopeful loss of linear velocity. When I say hopeful, I mean that the some velocity would be lost from spinning the ball, hopefully.
