What kind of pressures could one expect if using a Modded SFT can and sprung stock bolt? What about a Lurker bolt?

Dremel close then file....do not use your drill press like a mill

i was going to use my drill press to drill a series of holes and the use the dremel to cut. |

Have your dad track down some of his old friends who still have access to a mill. Or pay him to do it for you with a dremel and file. His rates for his son should be fairly decent. It's Christmas time, after all  |
