I have no clue, I came to my doctor for a routine checkup and said I was having so small anxiety issues and walked with a prescription to lexapro with no more than a one minute consultation. That stuff was terrible too, I felt tired and numb all the time so I quit after a month.

Well people today are raised with little to no coping mechanisms. Which is why therapy is the best route but no one wants regular therapy. It's time consuming expensive and everyone in our culture has the instant gratification problem of a quick fix.

Since they lack the social and coping skills of generations past you either medicate, seek therapeutical help, or live with it.

I personally blame parents for coddling their children and sheltering them from adversity and technology. Kids will spend all their time in doors watching TV or video games rather than interacting with others.

Kolder, how does one who doesn't consume caffeine or sugar medicate for narcolepsy?

I do drink coffee sometimes because as soon as I sit down or get comfortable I'm out within 10 minutes usually.

I guess you could call it narcolepsy.... As soon as I get comfortable I'm asleep with a couple minutes unless I physically fight it. It doesn't matter if I just slept 12 hours, I can always sleep 12 more.

Taking a supplement like Htp-5 and b-12 while cutting out caffeinated products worked wonders for me.

You would take both of them, as they do different things.

The HTP-5 is for anxiety, depression, adhd, etc...
The b12 is good for fatigue, preventing sickness...

edit- the b12 cancels out the HTP-5 side effects also.

****, Lexapro is what my mom takes for severe OCD.

Doesn't sound uncommon though. When I was still seeing a pediatrician like in 9th grade, I told her about my problems and she was ready to prescribe a pair of medications right there. I told her about everything for a good 20 minutes, but still. I definitely wouldn't take any medication for psychological problems without seeing a psychiatrist about it first.

Risking lung cancer for resistance to anxiety disorders, Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's, schizophrenia, obesity, inflammatory disorders, and in expectant mothers, preeclampsia.

I like those odds.
