Okay?

And if you were playing in really cold weather, it didn't help. Make sure you fill your pods correctly, they should not have any noise when you shake a pod. Don't underbore too much. Turn the tension settings on your hopper down. Evil is designed to break really easy, but you have to take measure to ensure its breaking on your opponent.

What kind of loader are you using? If it has tension settings then you need to turn these down when using Evil and other super-brittle paint. Also if it is cooler than about 75F it gets even more fragile.

If the guns are breaking the paint as well then you may need to bring the dwell up a bit.

That right there. Evil is extremely brittle/thin shelled paint. Cold weather makes it even more brittle on top of what it normally is. If the temperature starts dipping low don't use evil, it will give you problems like you are having.

Yes you can turn the tension down on a rotor, I can't remember how, but it's a screw that you need to turn in or out.

That's your problem right there. Try to keep your paint warm, and use a thicker shelled paint. Try winter paint if you can. you can test how brittle paint is by dropping a few balls from chest height onto the sidewalk or parking lot. if it breaks, then it's pretty brittle.

As far as bore sizes Yes most of the time you can but with brittle paint you more or less have to over bore it

Is your rotor putting to much pressure on the ball stack? you can reduce the tension on that as well.

A; your detends have a SPUR on them or they're really hard to depress.

B; rotor tension is too high forcing the balls "stack" and then double feed.

C; your eye pipe is cracked or has a bur on it causing it to break the ball

This is how you adjust your rotor tension

I would just make it flush then... turn the screw 1 1/2 turns OUT

Here's some posts from a thread in the dm forum, they may help you find the problem.

Don't think it was the gun, and I don't think he was using a DM. Looks like he couldn't even get the paint into the breech in one piece.

With tournament grade paint you have to be careful with how you pack your pods. You could have been packing them two tight and or to loose. Especially if its cold. Thats why they make winter fill/shelled paint. Also some times you can get a bad batch however Evil is usually pretty consistent, but you never know. Sometimes you need to adjust your playing style in the cold. Load slower don't let your hopper go completely empty, no hard dives and overbore. Or buy winter fill and have at it.

It is a bad idea to use tournament paint in the cold. 50 is not that bad but tornament paint can get very brittle in that temp. Deff not the gun causing troubles.

Rather shoot some medium or hard shelled paint as everyone is saying. I have shot dxs gold in that temp and it worked out great. Broke on everything but not in the pods or in the marker/barrel.

Every batch will be different and even if had luck with dxs gold, others may not. Its a risk.

Was this evil or ultra evil?? Evil has a tougher shell, more like marbs or premium. Ultra evil is a thin eggshell which will definitely be affected with really cold weather.

I used evil in Washington in the winter without issues.

paint shells start to ''freeze'' around 55F.. you definitely will have a very difficult time shooting evil under 60. However it is possible.

Just this weekend i shot 3/4 of a case of Ultra Evil and it was 30F outside.. i was only able to do that because all night before hand i had the paint by my fireplace. the paint was slightly squishy when i removed it from the house (very warm) and placed it into a cooler with a freshly filled hot water bottle. If i took too many pods and faced with my back to the wind the paint would chill too much and become wayyy too brittle.

we played a tourney a few months back and tried to shoot ultra in the morning and it wouldnt survive the acceleration to 300fps until we put it in a car, on the dash with the heater going.

keep in mind that tourney paint shells are designed to be brittle in 90F temps and high humidity.. Winter blends like Polar Ice (premium designed for cold) are what you should be using sub 55F.

So the people that sold you the paint didn't advise you on how brittle the shells will be in too cold weather.
