The Unofficial End-All Free AntiVirus Poll (Reviews and Downloads available)
My Norton subscription will expire soon and I am looking for the best Free program to protect my computers. Upon gathering the information I have decided to share what I have found and make an "End-All" AntiVirus thread; As there are too many similar threads which have came up in the past. The following list of Free AntiVirus software consists of the most recommended programs which are compiled from PCMag, PCWorld, CNET and other websites.
And Yes, for those of you that use multiple programs for an enhanced comprehensive protection, I have included that option in the poll as well. Having 2 AntiVirus programs can be beneficial as one program may detect threats that others do not. This combined protection can be significantly more effective as long as you only have ONE Real-time program running at any time. The second program is only used for the full-system scan feature and turned off when not in use. Simultaneously running two different programs can and will interefere with one another.
Click on the pictures if you are interested in a full download or want an extensive description from the official source. ALL of the following programs are Free versions of Full, purchaseable software; None of these are "Trials" so they can run indefinitely once downloaded.

Not an AntiVirus program but is considered just as invaluable; Because what might be slowing down your computer may not be a virus at all. CCleaner is a great multi-purpose tool for cleaning and optimizing your system. Besides deleting unnecessary and corrupt files, fixing registry errors, CCLeaner can be used for it's full-system restore tool which is one of many applications.

I actually had Microsoft Security Essentials on there. But it didn't have great raves other than being a Microsoft product so I removed it.

My roommates always get Norton360 from Newegg for free-ish. IIRC it's something like a $40 year key with a $40 mail in rebate. I'll get you specifics if needed Az.
