Last weekend I took my bargain gold-bolted RX to the field for the second time, and it is having problems chopping paint.

Board settings are all stock (dwell 10ms). HPR was set at 190, LPR flush. 280fps +/-4.

It seems to only chop at the end of a string of shots as the hopper runs out of paint.

To rule out the barrel, I tested it with the stock matchstik barrel, a freak barrel (.684, .695 inserts), and someone let me use their stock 2011 Rail barrel

To rule out paint, I tried it with Evil, Premium, and Valken Crusade.

To rule out the hopper, I used a Halo B and a Rotor.

I changed out the detents to rule them out.

Twice I immediately pulled the bolt after the chop and the top tip of the bolt had paint on it, but the bottom was clean.

I've changed out every o-ring in the marker, but nothing seems to fix this chopping. Any ideas?

try increasing eye delay/bolt delay setting. not sure which setting will show up.

can you manually drop a single ball into the breach and fire it without a chop?

This is what I was going to suggest as well. The setting name on the board is Ball Settle Delay. Default should be 5ms. Try bumping to 7 or 8 to see if you notice a change.

That seemed to do the trick! I set it to 7, went through about 6 half-hoppers and not a single break. Thanks!!!!

I'm up in the air with it right now. The consensus was that it would take the place of my Drone as my main marker, but I'm not seeing it yet. Maybe I haven't used it enough, or maybe I just really like the feel of my Drone in comparison. As a side note, I did let a buddy borrow it on Saturday and he was pretty impressed by it, so it may just be me.

As for the anodizing, that's up in the air as well. If I decide to keep it long-term, then the anno would probably be a worthwhile investment. As it stands, if I anno it now, and decide to put it up for sale, I see nearly zero possibility of recouping the expense. I ended up ordering up a new screen and grips, so my costs on it are up to ~$160, and I've been offered just over double that for it as is. Even with a fresh anno (>$200) on it, I don't see many RX's getting >$500. I'll just have to keep using it to figure out what I want to do with it.

my rx is so worth it to me man. to me the gun is worth a grand in my head. its honestly the best deal in paintball. 400 bucks for these are insanely good. they are ahead of their time especially coming out in 08. i had a drone and it got replaced by my borg. i actually have a clone vx and a borg rx and switch between both. i wont shoot anything else
