I think more bunkers will speed things up. More bunkers means narrower lanes prompting quicker bumps up field. You also need to consider how the layout is set up as some designs slow the play and others will speed it up. I guess we'll know in a few months how these new additions play out ...

Can someone please explain to me how more bunkers translates to faster games?

Sure, it may be easier to get up the field with these changes. What does that do for the players if they can't shoot **** at the 50?? The games will still be slow and we'll end up with 20 minute OT points like before.

The longer field makes for ****tier angles at the 50. More bunkers, 4 at that, does not translate to faster games if you cannot eliminate opponents faster.

Layout are going to be repetitive, its the nature of the game. Personally I feel that making the bumps smaller, thus making the lanes off the break smaller is a mistake, your going to see a lot of matches that have two teams with 5 alive off the break. With neither team having a body advantage off the break people are going to camp and hold lanes.

What you can shot from a bunker depends on the layout. And that is my job to design it so you have options wherever you are on the field. That's another problem that I'm working on.
I can give you plenty to shot at let's say from S2, but if you can't get to it because the gap is too big, what's the point?
The goal is to give you not only multiple lanes from the key bunkers but also allow you to get there faster.

I think that an exciting game is one where everyone is alive after the break and the point progresses quickly. Players make aggressive moves up the field and the point is over in a minute or two.

The gaps between the current bunker set are too big. Smart players are staying put longer and this is resulting in (IMO) boring, long points. Matches are running to time, players are running out of paint and the game in general is less exciting.

The new field length has improved OTB survivability. Teams were getting very good at laning 1-2 players a point at 150'. So, at 170' more teams are at full strength.

But, with the 170' layout, there is more square footage in field size and no additional bunkers. This makes the average bunker gaps significantly bigger as demonstrated in the example layout from Sup Air.

The additional bunkers will hopefully reduce the average gaps in future layouts. This will hopefully promote more aggressive movement and get us back to a more exciting game.

go back to 150', keep the same amount of bunkers, bring back the original snake beams...or make your L's the same size as the old ones.

wanna speed up your games? make the bunkers more playable. the reason the lanes are so large is because of the 170' length that stretches out the amount of bunkers on the field. you drop it back to 150 and you dont have that problem anymore. **** i cant even remember the last time a game went to time when the dimensions were 150'.

but this is all money as usual, sure its the cheapest upgrade kit ever, but it aint free and your still spending money. i think the last year that there wasnt some super awesome upgrade kit to come out was either 06 or 07. and those fields were ****ing awesome.

I think this is pretty interesting. I think it is a good idea at the same time as being a bad idea. Yes it takes a certain degree of gun skills and athleticism out of the game, but it also makes for cooler things to happen. For the faster guys, they can more easily make the big bunkers, but for the better gunfighters, its easy for them to get into a good position bunker to do what they are best at.

Also interested to see what the CXBL will be doing then, because they have been pretty much copying everything the PSP has been doing. Especially with the introduction of the new "RT5" division, which is essentially race to 5 PSP format.

Having things like cakes as primary bunkers makes it tough to run at full speed then slide or dive into when there are 3 feet wide. Go back and watch Galveston and look at the People getting blasted off the break on the snake side

I recommend at least moving some of the additional bunkers up into the middle of the field, not in the back row. Another place to run to and move around a bit in the middle of the field and to promote an easier run to the Race since it is longer with the newer dimensions...

You basically just pushed the bunkers back even closer to edge of the field to create space for them in the back row. Result, ****ed up the angles even more and there will be even worse shots from the 50s. Going to have to get into their 30 to even get a worth wild angle now. Points are going to run even slower now, especially with this crappy raceto format, imo
