Don't be reluctant! Its a ton of fun. Pick up a used WGP pump they go on here for $100 or so.

To use a Call of Duty metaphor, when I play CoD, several guys I know only play with knives. Is it practical? No. Would they get more kills if they played with guns? Yes. Why do it then? Just for fun, for bragging rights, and for more of a challenge. Same thing with pump.

I have a favorite pump quote, but I cannot remember who I stole it from:
"I don't play pump to make it harder for me, I play pump to make it easier for you."
Everyone else has added great points. We all like doing something a little different and challenging ourselves at the same time. If paint was FREE I would still go out with my pump!

To put it simply, I am just going to steal Some of my friends' quotes.
"pump players have some SERIOUS BALLS."
"We are people who put ourselves at a technological disadvantage to make the sport of paintball more exciting."
"The feeling that you get when you hit a luxe owner with your trusty pump is like an orgasm."
"You have a csl? We are playing speedball? SAY HELLO TO MY LITTLE FRIEND!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
The last guy then proceeded to take out the entire other team. It was 4 on 1. The other team had a csl, an Etha, an ego 08, and a dp rev-I.
This is why we pump.

Every player likes to play different ways. Is pump for everyone? No. For some pump is to difficult, it forces them to move more instead of staying behind a bunker and spraying.
However, I will stick with pump, both stock and open class, because it is what I enjoy; and that is what it ends with, what does the player most enjoy.
There is nothing like getting pinned behind a bunker from someone firing 12.5bps, and shooting them out with your ten round phantom.
If you enjoy semi, good stick with it, but dont diss people that like playing pump until you have at least tried it. Who knows you may join the dark side...

Pump is a totally different play.......where it all started.

With pump, you rely on your own skills and not the gun. With electro, you can hide behind the gun and let it do the work.

I play pump so I can get my APPA rank to drop. D3 at the local level is dead. D3 at the PSP level is too expensive. Pump tournaments counts as D4 point values.

It's to improve your gun fighting skills and to learn how to stay patient.Playing with a pump is actually real fun.

I played a 1v1 yesterday. I shot 2 balls. 1st one missed. 2nd one
Player was bumping up to a different bunker, I led the target and fired a single crossfield shot that connected with their goggles
Practice your snap shooting!!! I picked up 100 reballs to do just that I don't want to head to the field unless I've shot 50~100 rounds in practice a day or 2 before hand. My prefered target are the narrow end of a pop can or small pint water bottle.

Nothing like shooting someone with a pump.
Judging by your avi.....it's like getting a headshot with sniper rifle in bf3.
Rewarding.
