If the tournament uses the APPA registration that's the easiest way.

Otherwise as far as I know there isn't a database of who is ranked what.

But players ranked d5 and up cannot participate in beginner (or d6) ranked tournaments. So you are safe

Except if it's a tournament not using any sort of registration they have no way to tell if the player is ranked >D5. That's what the OP is worried about. The honor system doesn't work all that well for such things.

Right. Reason why Golf has handicaps for even small events such as "Dog Fight". So someone who is "John Doe" who just moved from "Whateva Town" can't enter in a tourney with couple decent beginners and win Monetary Cash/Prize.or rain hell on a bunch of Kids. Cause if you know This is "Paintball" not "reball" or airsoft that use such a "Honor System".

Well then would it just be classified as an open-class tournament?

I suppose but if you Require that "Beginner Tournament, d5 and higher can't play", how are you suppost to know if say some 2nd team alternates from some d3 team enter, you have to let them in cause they say they are not ranked?

Tournaments like that are checked by the APPA website by picture identification, so they crack down on people trying to play beginner.

But sometimes there can be people that play with good speed ballers and have real talent but have never played in a tournament, and they will be classified as beginners also

APPA is far from a perfect system, but its the best we've got.

I don't think you understand what I am saying.

The OP is playing in a tournament that is supposed to be D6 it sounds like. Without any way to confirm who is playing the event nothing is stopping some D2 team from showing up and rolling over everyone.

It's not supposed to be open class, it's supposed to be D6. The OP is worried that without any sort of measures to verify players' actual ranking a bunch of upper division guys will show up and stomp on the actual D6 guys trying to play their first tournament. That's what sand bagging means.

There's D6 now???? Is that like, someone who has played one tournament? Lol.

I would quit worrying about it and just go out and shoot whomever happens to appear on the field, whether they're D10 (an infant with his slobbery fingers on the trigger), D6, D1, or Pro. You've got a paintball gun in your hands, right? It shoots paintballs, right? Quit worrying and go shoot some people already...sheesh, kids and their ranking systems.

Hahaha, I was thinking the same thing when I read that. It surprises me there's even a D5.

It's not me personally, i went watch a friend play at a local tournament, and while i was there (and was posted for ranked players of any kind not to participate) i noticed guys who where in local circuit couple years back totally destroyed some 12-14 year olds. So made me start this thread to see if there was a way to Keep out sandbaggers, So Local Ammy's could go and compete for experience/gear/prizes/ that they could probably use instead of these Guys wreckin shop and stopping ammy's from coming out again to pay to get owned.

I wish I can say that everyone is honest, but they arent. It's a flaw in the sport that keeps away potential newcomers, and it sucks
