So I just took off the upper board from a Parker noid as the upper to lower connector on the board worked only when I pressed in on the corner and the pin was basically snapped off. Anyway, I've now soldered the new upper board on twice with no bridge between the two points. The solder jobs actually really looked good. Problem is that I can't get the noid to click now. Any recommendations on this? And no this isn't my first time soldering.
Is this common with taking the upper board off to solder on a new one. Both of the prongs were still intact and have no play in them. I guess if something happened inside I have no way of seeing that.
To clarify in my first post, the snapped pin was inside the connector that wires the upper board to the lower board. The pins to solder the upper board to that come out of the solenoid core were and are still 100% intact.
Did you remove the upper board? On few ocasions when I was learning I heated the prongs to long and did some damage in there but you couldnt tell from outside. I have been lucky a few times and fixed it aswell by heating the prong and pressing it fimly down then removing the heat and letting it dry. But it only worked like 2 out of 5 tries.
Yes I removed the upper board and installed the new one. Then took that one off and soldered it on again, as the noid wasn't clicking still. Of course I had no luck the second time either. I did apply a lot of heat on and around those prongs while working the board off, so maybe one came free. Who knows...guess I'll have to scoop a Humphrey noid and board.
