Geo3 Efficiency Question

Hello,

I recently picked up a Geo3 and am only able to get about at best 7 1/2 - 8 pods out of a 68/45 tank, shooting 284/286/285.

What i have done:
Replaced battery
Relubed bolt, very light
Solenoid almost have way, more towards horizontal
no leaks

Gun has about 6 cases through it.
Board is factory set.
Has standard bolt in, not soft tip.

If you have any ideas why i am not pulling the solid 9 pods when new with multiple tests please let me know.

That's actually pretty good for a 4K fill. What's your SFR set at?

You should also consider that your gun wouldn't be considered broke in yet. I also noticed you're in Iowa. I played up in Indiana 2 weeks ago in the 40's and was getting about 5 pods and a hopper with about 1.2K left on a 4.5K fill. You're going to get less efficiency in the cold.

Put about 4 more cases through it and check again. If you're still not seeing the efficiency you want by then, dwell tune it.

You need about 4-6 more cases on avg. to break the gun in, that should help... Bore match your paint, keep your bolt lubed.

I'm getting 5 pods and a hopper off of only 2000 psi so i could probably get 12 or so pods

Pubtalk!

8 to 9 pods is very normal on a full 68/4500 tank for a GEO3. That's a decent efficiency for a spool.

I can't get but 4 pods what am I doing wrong? I bore size using Shaft backs run stock dwell and use a Ninja 45/4500 850psi output. I only want to get 5 pods because it all I carry

Is it broken in yet? If so, dwell tune it. Try not to overbore if you have a barrel kit. Are you using the ST or the ST2 bolt? The ST2 is a bit less efficient

No it's brand new maybe 3 cases if that and I'm using the ST bolt. When broken in and tuned about how many do you think I could expect? I know sometimes numbers get fluffed and aren't completely accurate. My only goal is 4 pods and a hopper on a 45/4500 and I'm good to go

You should get that easily once it's broken in. Temp also plays a factor 2.

After break in ( I know all guns are different) but what roundabout dwell are you guys setting your markers at? My stock is set at 26.2 and although its new I played with it a little last night and couldn't go any lower then 20ms ( remember its still new) I'm not doubting anyone, just wondering if dwell is going to give me that much of a better shot count. Right now at 26.2 shooting DXS Bronze out of a .685 Shaft back and a 45/4500 hot fill I can get 4 pods and a Z2 but the last 75balls are 250 247 259 236

Thanks for all the help in advance

The more paint I put through my Geo the more efficient it has gotten. I have yet to break paint in it, so I havent used the Soft Tip Bolt. I have heard the having the SFR all the way down helps with efficiency. As always keep the bolt assembly and your reg clean and you should get it. I have found that boring my paint helps because then I dont have to turn the gun up at the chrono. This is just what I have noticed

i haven't been able to drop my dwell yet and had to use it with my SFR 'Open' (12'oclock) because it has been so cold here. I started the day at 20F and it works fine SFR 'Half' but when I let it sit around between games then I get the FSDOs, but if i stick it back to 12 oclock, I have no issues with FSDO.

Dwell tuning a GEO3 is same as tuning any other GEO.
