My Hub-A-Lub <3
Hey paintball guys (and gals, I assume - and super duper hope),
My husband and I have known each other for 6 years (met each other via on-line gaming - WoW, for those of you that know it <3) and he used to play some hard-core paintball back in Washington state before he met me and before his WoW game days. He moved here (Atlanta, cross-country, I know I'm a lucky girl) a couple years ago, we married (woohoodles) and he picked up paintball again (yesss!). I'm not a typical wife of depriving their guys from things they love; this weekend he played in his first paintball tournament with his new paintball team about 2 hours from our house, and although I travelled with him and was planning to go to his tournament I had a f-ing migraine and spent the tournament day in our damn hotel room while my super awesome wusband (my term!) busted his *** with his team on the paintball field without me. :'( I'm posting here because I want to know, in guys terms, what I can do to make him feel like I really care about his sport even though I missed it. Please help with ideas.... guys don't care for flowers! Thanks for your help, in advance.

Honestly, you posting this is enough. I don't think gifts are as necessary as other things, but contacting the field and seeing if anyone took photos during the tournament would be a good step, photo collages always work well.

Many things you can do!
1.) Show him some YouTube videos of HK Army (guys that party and paintball) and show your interest as far as you think it's cool And you like it.
2.) ask him to take you to the field to play on a rec day! (If your brave enough haha, it's not that bad, and you'd have a ton of fun.)
3.) buy him paintball gear? Haha that's always a plus!

I hope that when you guys want kids, you can adopts me.
Edos4Life: HK Army? Ehh... That's a bit too skewed an image. They're kind of like the... Yoloyoloswagswag420 group of paintball.
Not that it's necessarily bad, but it only covers a very small and shallow section of paintball.
Why not try and play some non-tournament games with him? Like recball or woodsball. Always super fun, safe, and still loaded with epic awesomesauceness. It'll be like a gift for both of you at the same time

Wiscoballer - How would I go about contacting the field for pictures? It was in Macon, GA. Is there anything else I can do for him to make him feel super awesome - in a wifely way?! Other than the obvious, bootay?! Help, he's super great to me. <3

Egos4flifeguy - I have stupid *** (hope it's okay because I cuss like a sailer) lipomas - they're growth's that your parents bless you with (non-cancerous) growths that hurt when you bump, much less paintballs graze you with. I'd love to show him I care enough to try paintball with (only with a Tim-the-toolman-Taylor with paintball gun) - does anyone have pointers I could impress him with? I'm hardcore into cars and pimping the shee-ite out of them and I need him to know I'm willing to go out of my element to impress him. Thanks guys, and gals.

That would be the only field in the immediate area, I would just call them and ask if they held the tournament, then ask about a photographer.

Really, I can't even blame you for thinking that. I'd think that - both on gaming and car forums because, in my experience, chicks are jerks. Look, I'm used to dealing with guys that love cars. I know how to dazzle guys into cars but paintball is a new thing to me. He just got a new gun (and wants a new one - like $1200 one - I can't blame him because I want some rims for my old car but this isn't about me.) How do I do something for him? I know it sounds too good but, quite frankly, I could give two ****s about that bull... if I were to tell you I'm a 600 pound girl with hairy toes how would I make my guy feel super awesome? Looking for genuine good surprises here not bull.

Go play paintball with him. This is the BIGGEST thing you can do for him. My wife pseudo supports my paintballing, but the biggest thing she could do for me in terms of paintball would be to go an open play with me.
We don't know enough about your husband to tell you what to buy him (it would be like your husband buying you a bra, I highly doubt he could go out and buy one that fits you perfectly and is comfortable), so telling you what to buy would be too hard. But go and play and he'll be super stoked.
At least I would.

Did you read the whole thread? She has a medical problem that prevents her from being able to play.

A good way to show that you care is to ask him questions about it. Just about what's happening and how it went after he played. Make yourself seem curious.

Well.....
You sound a lot like my wife.. Although we didn't meet on WOW.
She doesnt have anything wrong that prevents her from playing. She is just a little scared but is willing to give it a try once it gets colder and she can pad up w/ thicker clothes.
If it gets cold in your area, you could always wear layers, take it slow... Its open play rec ball, you dont have to be an all star.
Or just as my wife does, supports me in it as much as she can, lets me go when I want. Buy what I want, buys me gift certificates to where I go or buy from, etc.

I think he knows that you are interested in the sport, just by you going out and supporting him. You could always just catch his attention just by watching some paintball videos when he walks by.

If he has paintball stories avoid rolling your eyes and saying things like "why are your talking about paintball again?"
If he has pictures or videos of himself playing paintball you could be legitimately interested or at least fake it.
If he has a tournament you could watch to show your support.
Doing any one of the above three would qualify as "Special" in my book, if your doing any one of those three things let alone all of them you are already way ahead of the girlfriend/wife curve of being accepting of your husband playing paintball. I wouldn't worry about going out of your way to watch videos or anything like that... all of this stuff will come up in time.

If you are unable to play, learn as much as you can about the game yourself, and ask to help coach his team. Play the team mom role, I know of a few who do so and are awesome. Its always nice to have help on the sidelines, and if he's playing in tournaments that allow sideline coaching, it's nice to have a distinguishable(woman's) voice to listen for.

yep. not complaining that he's leaving fora weekend, or that he's spending too much money is a good start to things I'll be the first to admit that sitting down at a paintball field and watching from the sidelines is BORING.

Just go play a few games with him. I've managed to get my wife out a few times with a private rental group and it's a lot of fun.
