Axe chopping and or barrel breaks

Ok heres my question I just installed the boss bolt and set it to the settings that it recommends. Dwell to 3 pressure at 160 and short spring. I was using my Dw with .082 inset and I was breaking a lot. Changed the insert to .084 and was less but then stopped shooing, I took off the rotor and there was paint broken and lodged in the feedneck and wouldnt feed. I cleaned that out and it kept doing it. It cut down after I opened it up to clean out but I dont know what caused the problem. Was it the bolt and sping, the dwell, or the barrel and like the paint backed up into the gun

I just got a .678 Lurker Eigenbarrel so I installed my Infamous Boss bolt to try it out. Shot like utter crap, flying every direction, chopping in the barrel every 15-20 balls, it was ugly. I switched to the stock Axe barrel and it worked absolutely fine, so it was 100% a matter of too small a bore. I don't know where the hell I'm going to find smaller paint to test it out, none of the fields around me have quality stuff =/

Hmm. A barrel break from extreme underboring, and blowing back up into your feed neck when your bolt returns?

So you're shooting crappy paint? Yeah, I'm sure it's "100%" the barrel or the gun.

I was shooting Valken Fate, if that means anything. But still, my point stands. It was the barrel causing those breaks simply because it was too small of a bore.

Anything beyond .007 underbore and that behavior starts to show up in my experience. Really oblong paint is even worse.

^^^ Yep, Heat is my choice for rec paint. It bounces a bit, but the size and shape is very consistent.

Is Diablo Heat similar? ANS doesn't have Empire Heat.
I called my local shop to see if they had Heat (local as in it's ~1 hour away and it's still the closest) and when he wanted me to explain the situation, the guy said I need a bigger barrel, .678 is way too small. I'm guessing he's not a fan of underbore...haha.

I have had great results with Valken Graffiti and Empire Custom Blend (basically its Formula 13 with a custom fill) and just an FYI, JT Empire and RPS are all made by RP Scherer who is owned by Kee/Empire. I also use a Boss Infamous bolt/short spring/dwell @4, a v3 Rotor and underbore to a .682 and never ever break paint anywhere inside my gun, therefore I stand behind my original statement, it's the paint.

I'll try out some Graffiti, hopefully I can find it somewhere near me.

It's generally recommended you don't buy paint online, right? For breakage reasons?

I bought paint online never really had a problem. the paint was empire custom blend I believe, before I put the new bolt in I shot heat and never really had a problem so if it is in fact the paint that is not good news

I was in a similar situation to yours with my .678 Eigenbarrel. I put my CP 685 on and the barrel breaks went away. My 678 lurker sits in the gearbag until im in a location with higher quality paint.

but would a barrel break make paint break like where the paint comes threw the feedneck like where the bolt catches it?

No, but if ****ty paint breaks as your bolt passes underneath the feed neck during the first shot, it will. Or if your loader crushes it in the stack and loads broken paint.

Shoot some good paint and see if it changes. I get breaks all the time with field paint, because they are shaped like eggs sometimes.
