Not true, I spoke with a woman at work that is 20 years old. She lives in an apartment paid for by the government, collects food stamps, and gets disability for "boderline retardation" when I asked her what that was she said she doesn't score well on tests. She received a $6,000 tax return for her children (all 3 with separate baby daddys) even though she did not pay a cent in taxes besides sales tax. She was arguing with her boyfriend over the fact that she spent the $6,000 in two months.

This story isn't unique. There are lots of people that realize they have a much more comfortable life living off the system and never trying to work. Most of these people are uneducated high school or middle school drop outs that would be lucky to make over minimum wage. They have no desire to work 40 hours a week and to have less than they do milking the system.

^So then we should up the minimum wage. That way these people can earn enough to live off of and we can take them off of welfare.

Lol only if you also cut off welfare completely. Why work legally and pay taxes when the government will give you money for free

^There are still those that legitimately need welfare.

If you're a drop out and you will only earn roughly minimum wage, then I can understand the incentive to take welfare (I don't want to get into how welfare works, because your description isn't accurate). I don't condone it, but I understand it. If on the other hand Minimum wage earns you enough to have a life, then there is an incentive to work (earning money is a matter of pride). From there we can tighten up welfare programs. Seems like a better situation than what we currently have.

Ha, you Are so far from reality ... No i dont tag along with social workers, but when i was in high school i worked at a grocery store ... Long story short, i would bring groceries out to a persons car, whom which JUST paid with a foodstamp card, and when i get to their vehicles, they are 30k+ .... So if u can afford a $30,000 vehicle ... U dont need foodstamps. I SEE these frauds, i dont get all my info from CNN, so dont try to be a genious and say "show your work" ... I would really like to slap the retard who said that.... The work is real life ... Thats the problem with this country ... The mojority of people that are opposed to issues or oblivious to them should i say, are usually never even exposed to the issues they feel just so strong about. People that think government assisstance is only being recieved by these poor senior citizens and the poor single mothers apparently live in a very upscale area, where they are not exposed to the "assisted class". People who oppose guns are usually people from large cities who have never been exposed to hunting or sport shooting .... Pretty much its a bunch of people whinning about lots of things they know nothing about

I know. But we need to figure out how to get them off welfare, not keep them on it. There are few that truly can't work. I've seen a double amputee working in a bicycle shop. We have others too. Can you imagine if Stephen Hawking had said, "eh, I need welfare."

Clinton's original idea for welfare reform was actually quite good.

But there's always going to be low-wage work and poverty. People need to realize that working hard, education, and taking advantages of opportunities is the way up. Not giving up and waiting for the government check to clear.

Oh I guess you never got the Memo - Gonzo (the guy who said "show your work) is the only one who can use personal experience and have it count as fact. For anyone else to do it is irreverent.

Also, welfare seems to me like this book

For those of you that have read it.

You just pwned yourself. Stephen Hawking needs and makes heavy use of welfare. It allows him to do what he does.
