Welfare cards should be useable at casinos and the liquor store?
http://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2012...omething-video
The link claims it's possibly racist, but I didn't quite receive that message. However, if she were to claim that, it would be a major LOL. She did, however, find it ridiculous that a bill was introduced to keep people from using welfare at casinos and on booze. "Republican lawmakers have introduced legislation to ban welfare card use from liquor stores and strip clubs. This has democrats fighting mad." Why?
Anyhow, the real question: Should EBT cards and welfare be useable at a casino or liquor store?

Fox news race baiting? Egads! That's a tactic of the libtards.
Of course they should only be useable for legitimate food stuffs but technically you can buy olives, onions and cherries at liquor stores and casinos typically have a lot of places to eat. Without specifics it's a bit laughable that you'd specify the places and not the products.
Also this video is 10 months old, wtf?

Yes casinos have many places to eat, however here in NY ebt cannot be used on prepared foods. I spent a year working at a grocery store, you would be amazed at the pajama wearing scum that has nothing better to do than bi*** that they can't get something. Or get all pissed when something isnt covered and they end up having to pay 6 dollars for their groceries for the week. All while being completely ungrateful and disrespectful to the 16 year olds that were paying taxes to help provide their food stamps.

The poll is a bit skewed as naming a place doesn't adequately convey what's inside. No alcohol or tobacco sure, but that's already in place.

But casinos are psychologically setup for the user to want to spend money and their is nothing cheap about anything at a casino. Welfare should be used to get the most bang for the buck, if not, then you don't need it. Take my dad for example. The mother ****er will go out and buy ****ing lobster and ribs. ****ing pisses me off.

Use EBT and welfare for entertainment, especially casinos where people who work can't even afford to go usually? No. You should have your subsidies taken away and jailed for 6 months. Stop abusing the system. I don't pay taxes for people to go to casinos, there is nothing there that they need to survive with.

I never had EBT. Never qualified. The fact that you conflate EBT with other things tends to put you in the "don't know what you're talking about" camp.

I like you.
I mean, we would likely still be supporting them in some way in jail but at least they would be locked up and I wouldn't have to see them on the streets.

I remember who you're talking about. He was arguing with me a while back and IIRC, his argument was something along the lines of unemployment is a program that is in place so people can carry on their daily lives like it was before.

I wasn't referring to EBT, it was an off topic question.

I did play paintball while receiving UI, almost every week as usual. No problem at all. I would say the UI payments probably went to my mortgage and maintenance though, at least that's how I viewed them in my budget.
I hope you aren't suggesting that somehow I wasn't right to spend my money on paintball. Anyone who suggests that can eat a dick, there is zero wrong with doing whatever you like with your income (legally), whatever it is, within a financially tenable and socially responsible framework. Ironically, the worst thing you could do with UI money is not spend it.

When I was getting unemployment, I didn't play the paintballs. I didn't goto the movies. I didn't buy toys. I paid my bills, and hunted for yobs.

I feel for you, I can imagine that people who are in more difficult situations than I was, maybe lower pay, no severance, etc. would need to cut back a lot on nonessentials. Not that I didn't, obviously with a 40% wage loss a lot got cut back on. Paintball just wasn't one of those things for me, for a combination of reasons.

EBT benefits cannot be used for gambling and liquor. That's the point.
