Why Do Impulses Have Such Low Resale Value???

Anyone that owns/has owned an early 2000s Impulse:
Why are they worth nothing? It seems that they would be a great old-school gun to play rec ball with! With tons of upgrades, and a nice original MSRP, why are they worth next to nothing today? I have never owned one and are thinking about buying one, but are perplexed on this issue. I have searched and not found a thread showing this!

its all perception really. people are just hooked on the newest and best craze so there are a tons of slightly older but still really nice markers to be had for cheap. Its kind of like how a few year old iphone can be worth next to nothing but the new model can be a ton when they both do very close the same thing.

Likely also has to do with the weight of the gun. Imps aren't exactly light, and many people looking for something older and electronic probably see guns like the Mini and the Ion as better options for them because they are smaller and lighter weight.

Personally I'd shoot an imp over either but I also started out playing paintball with guns as heavy or heavier then the impulse, so to me the weight isn't a big deal.

all old guns have low resale value.
that and the impulse wasn't a high end when they first came out, let alone come 2003-2004.
impulse was always a mid end, and they're rather unbalanced which accentuates the heaviness.
kids these days dont know what a real heavy gun is though.

imps were top of the line for quite a while. they dominated the tournament scene. most of the PL imps went for 1000+.

id say the low resale has a bit to do with the above reasons but also its performance level compared to the newer stuff imps dont have great efficiency. the aftermarket stuff for them isnt as prevalent either so squeezing all the performance from them with a complete NDZ overhaul isnt as easy. throw in a little blind SP hate, and a little heft and they arent so popular. on the plus they shoot great and are bulletproof. they generally always work. great value if you dont mind the weight (some of them were pretty light) and not being able to shoot a case per fill(not even close).

Impulses are like most other Smart Parts products out of the box, not too great. Impulses are also on average, giant ugly box guns compared to quite a few newer markers. They can be tuned to shoot beautifully, and I love mine.My first electro was an amber light impulse, and I still have that gun. It's been modded like crazy since, but it shoots great.

Not many want to buy an old gun from a dead company and learn its traits. For those that want to, or for those already familiar with the platform, an Impulse is an amazing project gun and the performance upgrades that made Impulses top of the line can be had for quite cheap. An Impulse built out of high end parts you pick up off of ebay or gearbag sales can hang with the best of them and turn some heads, they are a little heavy compared to modern guns though. Workhorse of a gun if you know how to put them together well.

I still have my impulse. The company is dead and simple parts are hard to find. Most guns lose their value and appeal quickly because new versions keep popping up.

All I deal with is Impulse's. They are extremely easy to work on and you can find pretty much any part you want or need on ebay or impulseowners.com.

If you would like to buck the low price trend, I can sell you one for $1000. That would bring the average price up a tick. 8)

Yeah I hear ya, still have a 2003 blind Imp with a few minor upgrades, tried to sell it oN BST years ago and pretty much got no bites, LOL! I totally agree with one poste, comparing markers to iPhones, many want the newest hottest ****. With my old crew not playing anymore, and a local younger group not playing much, I dont think I'll have the chance to play again. But when I do, I'm thinking of buying a used high end gun, best bang for my buck, if it was treated right. Still had fun with the old impulse though.

Ya, that totally killed egos and intimidators, gens 1-6. Fully enclosed stack tube poppits like the nerve and angel have far better resale.

I have no clue. I love my imp. Shoots like a friggin dream. I'd have a hard time parting with mine for anything under $300 (AKA ain't gonna happen).

They went cheap when they were still fairly new... I bought my Nasty Impulse back in like 04 brand new from SP for $600 and then a year later sold it for like $300 with stuff done to it.

Sucks how almost all the SP gun got branded with a bad rep for some reason when they really are good guns. (At least the 3 I've owned were)
