shaft4 backs??
Since my. 689 is a decent overbore on all the paint iv used locally I have been trying to find the 685 and 681 backs. I know I can get the 685 with the boost kit but that 693 will be completely useless to me. And I have seen a 681 anywhere except the csl kit.
Am I missing something, or should I just buy close to what I want with the lapco fuse kit?

Violent Series did a run of .681 http://violentseries.com/planeteclip...ck681bore.aspx. It's only available in black so if you were looking for colors your out of luck. I personally like my .683 fuse back so the Lapco isn't a bad choice.

I'm not too hot on the freak inserts.
Anyone have experience with the fuse barrel? Are they any quieter than a shaft 4 tip? And how about the "self cleaning " they claim to do?

If you bore for the freak backs does it change the sound signature at all?

@Iowa.... I bored the back of my 09 shaft 3 and didn´t make any diff in sound sig
@turnburglar...freak is best thing i´ve shoot IMO (UL, CPs, regular PE)
@tonycon....... 1000000% true...
I´m in Mex City and only took me 2 hours to find a decent CNC lathe and 1 day +30$ to get it done...i had my freak as a guide
I´ve also heard that boring shaft 4 is a little dificult but can be done (some of the NJ Jesters guys had it or have it in some of their markers)

Interesting, you may have just saved me from buying a CSL (just to get the gold back pieces to match my VGeo3). Love this idea, but I just worry a little bit over how much you can actual take out of a barrel without seriously compromising structural integrity.

I had my shaft 4 barrel done by nerve2030...the turnaround was three days...shipping and all. The work is top notch! The insert fits perfectly and when the insert is in the back the transfer from insert to back is seamless! Spend a 1/3 of the cost of a boost kit to have the boring done.

I have heard good things about the ferrous barrels they look very similar to the stock barrels and come in an assortment of colors. I use Dye barrels on everything I shoot with fantastic results. But Dye is a lot more expensive.

Check with your local PE dealer. For a limited time, they can order Boost singles in either 0.681 or 0.685 (in current colors).

In response to the question on the fuse kit, I have the full kit and all the eclipse backs and have used them for this whole season. I haven't notice that they are truly that much quieter mostly just different sounding, less of a pop on an ego. But as for cleaning they are like nothing I have ever seen. I have used a lot of different barrels and kits in the past, all the shafts, stiffis, DWs, CPs, ultralights, a j and j, regular freak kit and other freaked barrels. The Fuse cleans better then any those. The Fuse and the shaft backs are interchangeable and I can tell the difference on how they clean, if I need to use a shaft back to get the right bore size. It really is awesome and I would highly recommend them. Collecting and trying barrels used to be a thing of mine until I got the fuse kit and now I have stopped looking.
