Hud

I understand there may be more than one mask
maker who is looking into this. Sorry, can't name
them for obvious reasons, but I agree it's be cool
to see paintball back on the cutting edge instead
of playing catcch up all the time.

Sincerely,

Yeah there was a guy on the forums here and on YouTube and he made a really cool HUD with night vision and stuff. Haven't heard anything from him in a while though.

have no idea, but I'd be willing to bet that if
he really had something either someone with
serious money got in touch with them, or he
ran into some sort of problem.

BTW, has anyone else seen what Google is
looking to come out wih and what they're
looking to get for a pair?

Yes, I believe it is called google glass. It is more of a social tool than a tactical one though. I also heard it would be very expensive.http://www.google.com/glass/start/

I agree, it's not designed for our sort of use, but at
least it shows there are firms out there developing
similar tools. Won't be long before one of the big
players, like Dye, or one of the others comes out
with a similar system fitted into one of their masks.

Google glass is $1500 for one. There are cheaper options like running a hotspot and using a I-phone to I-pad face time. Mount the I- phone to your mask and you got a basic heads up with comm.

Update

Hey all just wanted to give you all a quick update on the project. We've completed the install for the Dye I4 and will be testing it soon. The Recon Instruments MOD Live HUD costs about $400. The communications suite we use costs around $250 (SENA Bluetooth or Midland BT NEXT). The HUD is quite powerful has lots of options. We're building apps along with a few others and Recon will be launching a new set of software soon which will help. For full details check out:

www.tacticalhudproject.com

As far as the videos posted on this blog, motion tracking/targeting isn't something we do.

We do however have a gun cam and buddy tracking which is more realistic.
