Anyone planning on purchases friday? Time for a new mobo/gpu for me.
I'm stuck, however...would dual 560's be better than a single higher end card? I can't speak to models, at the moment, so I know it's probably a tough question to answer, but newegg has 560's for $70 for black friday.

Planning on upgrading CPU+mobo, only parts I need, but after December at the least. After I've worked a month or so at this new job.
I really don't know how many great black friday deals there will be for computer components. I live almost next to Fry's Electronics, but I'm just going to walk in at 10AM at the earliest and see if they have anything I wanted still.

You could do 4 560s for 1 660ti!
I'd still go with the 660ti, I bet they are on sale too.

Thinking about getting a Newegg credit card and building a new PC this weekend. I have the money to pay for it now, but I like to have about a grand in the bank in case an emergency comes up. Plus, now seems like the time to start a build, with all the deals and such.
Anyone have any build suggestions? Budget is going to be under $700. I need to be able to play Starcraft 2 and stream at the same time, and use Fraps while gaming. I haven't built a computer in a very long time, so I know almost nothing about current technology.
Also, I have an Nvidia GTX250 from my last computer, is it worth keeping? SLI? I also have a good 550 Watt power supply, but I'm guessing building a newer computer would have a higher power requirement. I already have a couple older cases I can probably use to save money as well.

Just fyi, if you use FRAPS or any video recording program while gaming in a demanding game, such as GTA IV for example, your FPS will go down nearly half. You'll probably want a good video card, and I would think the amount of memory would help here, no less than 2gb on the video card. Someone can correct me here if this is wrong. If you only have $1k in the bank with no other types of savings accounts, I'd wait, that's not really having the money to pay for it now, I don't want this thread to go to this **** again though, so that's all I'm going to say here.

Does fraps really drop your FPS that bad? I run fraps all the time to keep an eye on my FPS and never noticed the drop.

In GTA IV for me anyways, it does. It's usually still playable, but barely. It affects both playing and the recording too, so your videos will stutter as well.
EDIT: Eh, none of my videos lag that much actually.

I do know that Starcraft is pretty memory intensive.
I understand Fraps will cause FPS to drop, but I'm only trying to play Starcraft on medium settings anyway. I've been playing the game on all the lowest settings on my laptop forever now, averaging about 35 FPS, so anything will be a huge improvement.
So, 2gb ram on the video card, sounds good. I also don't have a use for a very large HD, and I can probably just use one of my old ones anyway. The thought of a SSD is appealing, but I'll have to do more research.
Let's talk processors. I know it's mostly a personal preference, but which offers better power for the price? AMD or Intel? My last two computers were Intel, but the first computer I ever built was AMD, and it lasted the longest out of the three, so I'm open to both right now.

Looking for a good, cheap, 1TB HDD on black Friday or cyber monday and maybe an SSD too. I saw Newegg has the 128GB Samsung 840 for something like $130. I can't decide if I just want to go big and get a 240+GB one or not.

That depends on your price range an intended usage, but I'm pretty much always going to recommend Intel. They were very soundly on top of everything in the last gen. I'm not sure about AMD's newest stuff since I haven't paid much attention, but I didn't think they made significant gains.
