I lost that battle...

****ing craigslist gets me in trouble.

I guess it balances out. I sold my i5 and got an i7, I sold my tablet and got the 680, etc.

So, any hopes for Haswell and related parts? I'm hoping the mobos come in black/red more commonly. Also, a true black pcb would be nice. Oedipus made me hate mine (brown)

New mobo in. Gigabyte 990fx. Amazing what a difference a nice motherboard makes over a budget one.

Put all this in last night + my Intel SSD. OC'd to 4.6ghz right now, running prime95 while I'm at work. Temps after 10 minutes was highest of 75. May push for 4.7 and call it good if the longer test doesn't fail and temps stay around the same.

Next is the video card to OC.

Nice setup tregch, very similar to mine.

Speaking of prime 95, my 2600k lasted all night running the torture test at 4.4ghz. Time to bump it up. Peak temps were all below 54.

Damn. That's a low temp. Doing the torture test on my comp right now. Should be going for a good 10 hours before I get back. It should make it through just fine. Gotta try lowering the voltage step-by-step to see how low I can get temps at this speed.

I'm running an H60 with 2 fans, it works so freaking well for only $50. My normal temps (gaming, browsing, watching movies) are in the 20s. I've never seen it get over 60 (on my 3570k).

I dunno what the max I can take this chip is, but I am shooting for 4.8ghz.

That's awesome. I'll have to take a similar route next time I upgrade then.

Can it go that high safely/stable? I see most people (on water coolers) at 4.8ghz stable.

Definitely. Keep an eye on dealnews.com for water cooler sales. The H60 at newegg is around $65-$70, I saw a deal and got it for $50. Definitely worth it, and install is a piece of cake.

Does anybody here run a TV tuner card? We moved my desk downstairs and I was curious about "replacing my set top box with a TV tuner card". I already pay for cable, and getting another box down here would be like $15/mo extra. I'm curious how it works, do I still get normal TV control like I would?

I was looking at this card in particular:

I seen quite 2600k/2700K 5.1-5.2ghz on under water though

I'm getting 4.9ghz underwater 3770K. (ivy bridge runs alittle hotter but about 5-10% faster clock for clock)

Your should be able to get 5.0ghz on your cpu

I say this every time h60/80/100 talk comes up haha, but I have one as well, and it's fantastic. Cannot recommend enough.

I'll push it further and see how it goes. My H60 isn't even breaking a sweat right now.

They are amazing. Cheap, reliable, no maintenance, and EASY to install. No added weight on the mobo like a big air cooler too

Settle down. I need to stop buying things for my computer.

4.7ghz works so far, but it didn't like 4.8
