Diablo pump question

I'm trying to fix a diablo pump and whenever I pump it it won't go forward unless I pull the trigger then do the forward stroke and the ball shoot off. Kind of like auto trigger except I half to use it

Sounds as though the round brass piece that is behind the bolt might be backwards. Sorry I have no pics available of the correct orientation.

Why do you need to remove that piece? Should never need to. I believe it's held by a cotter pin.

Google nelson pumps. Should be pretty much identical. Not sure if all parts are interchangeable but most should be.

No, just flip the brass piece around. Not the sear.
