Paintball Website Idea

Ok, before I even start, no one steal my idea. I really think this is a good website idea and it could go places, and I need as much help as possible to make it a success and a reality.

My idea is a general paintball information website. This website would NOT be a review site, forum, or news website. This website would be for non-biased, wiki-style information about any and every piece of paintball equipment. This means masks, markers, hoppers, tanks, barrels, etc. It would include specifications, an overview, an MSRP, *possibly* reviews, pictures, and of course a link/excerpt from the manufacturers website about the product.

Lets say you just bought a Planet Eclipse Etek 4 (just an example), and you wanted to see what the threading was, or the diameter of the feed neck; you would visit this site and *poof*... there is all the specifications.

Or maybe you were interested in buying a Luxe, and you wanted all the information about it without having to go through dozens of review sites, advertisiments, YouTube videos, and the manufacturers page. *poof*... all the information you need to know about the Luxe.

Now I have looked for a website similar to what I am talking about, and I haven't found one (other then Wikipedia), so I am looking for both professional and non-professional help in making such a site, as well as any thoughts or reactions. Thanks!

This. If you can find a group of knowledgable and dedicated people with the proper funding, I know I would use it on a regular basis. This is potentially an extremely good idea. Good luck sir

I would say this is a very good idea i would also but a list of upgradesfor each gun so people know wats out there instead of having to comb through sites

I like the idea alot and could help with a bit of it. However just because you said "Please do not take the idea" anyone can still do so.

my most favorite magazine had every gun in it with specs. good idea.i think ive seen something like it around but not with hyperlinks and open source format. so that is a benefit you have.

I know, but it's kind of a generic rule of thumb to not see a post like this and turn around and do the same thing. Sure there are plenty of examples of people stealing other people's ideas, but I trust the paintball community to not, I guess. Remember, this is me looking for feedback and support, it's not an advertisement.

That is what makes me so eager to start up a website like this. There isn't anything else like it, and with a centralized website like the one I am taking about, it would be easier for people to dumb down the online world of paintball guns and equipment and get started playing. When I first started playing years ago, I was intimidated by the oodles and oodles of companies, gear, terms, and everything that makes up the paintball world. Hopefully this website would help simplify it.

try your luck at posting for help on the off topic > technology section and see who might be able to help you. i know everybody would definitely benefit from that website

I would love to help out. But like Vesuis said. Is just a brainstorm or do you have an idea on how you want to do this. And just as a suggestion I think it would make a decent app if you kept it updated.

It's really just an idea at this point. If I get a good amount of help, I would be extremely excited to start on a project like this, but to tell you the truth it's really just an idea.

I am only in High School, and I have little to none HTML skills. It seems like a website like this would definitely get used, and I think it would benefit a lot of people, an app sounds like something to strive for once a website is up (if it ends up being done), or an app could come first. I'll respond to your PM right now, let's see what we can do

I can make the website.... for some fee whether it be material item or anything of value. Keep in mind you will have costs for the .com domain and hosting. I can get you a discount on those if i bundle you with my current accounts.

This is a decent idea, but i dont think you are aware of the costs for this.

I've been running a forum of 60,000 members for 11 years now and it takes 10 sponsors paying XXX amount a month to keep the site up and running and somewhat profitable.

Right now me and Remyisx are planning on designing a website, finding out what specifications we want to research, etc. It sounds like you could definitely help us out, and if you want to help found this and make this website a reality, that would be awesome. Seems like you could definitely help out with the actual maintenance and business end of the website, and you obviously have experience with managing.
