it wont work "better", but you might see a slight improvement in efficiency with an lp tank. (maybe 100 more shots). the stock reg will handle HP no problem if your fixing to get a geo and only have an HP tank at the moment.
if your not sure whether to buy an HP or LP tank, then definitely buy a ninja tank or regulator so you can just swap a couple shims out to switch between the two. ninja is easily one of the top tank brands out there, i really like mine. priced and made well.
HP tanks werent exactly designed for automags....the SHP (super high pressure) was designed for automags since they crave pressures well above what the HP 850psi can offer. hp tanks are for guns more like spyders and tippmans that come stock setup to work with the pressures of co2. there are also a few other older high ends that worked better with hp, like cockers and 05/06 egos had a high enough operating pressure where LP could starve them at a high enough rate of fire.
the newer bob long guns that dont use macro line are the ones that work best at 450psi or less, mostly because its a lot easier on the internal seals from the asa to the reg. just fyi.
