What Upgrades are needed for a NIB Axe
Just getting back into the paintball game and started off by getting myself a stock Axe paintball gun and was wondering what upgrades if any that I need to get or should get for my marker.
I will start off by saying thank you for reading this and giving it consideration.

To be honest the axe doesnt need any upgrades outside of maybe a barrel. You could consider getting a boss or lurker bolt, but that is totally up to you. Gun shoots amazing stock, and shoots even better with one of those two bolts.

The gun is fine stock. You should strongly consider getting a barrel though, a lot of people suggest underboring, so you could pick up a fixed bore. As for the bolts yes there are bolt upgrades( boss and lurker) no they are not necessary yes they help. Oh and check your operating output and put it to 180 mine was at like almost 200 and i adjusted it a little and it got a little more air efficient

I think it comes down to 3 things that help with the stock axe...
1) Hopper - Getting a Halo, Dye V3, or something that can supply 20 bps is key to getting the most out of your marker
2) Airtank - I play a 45/4500 tank and get 3 to 4 games of 200 to 500 shots a game out of it. Too small of a tank and you can't enjoy the full capabiltities of the marker
3) Barrel- I like a freak kit to bore match but that's up to you. A good 10-14" barrel works fine but the stock barrel is an overbore of 0.693 and is too large for the paintballs I shoot.
The stock axe is great for recreational play and enjoy the easy to walk the semi mode up to 12 to 15 bps and "on my signal, unleash hell" in the form of a barrage of balls.

Awesome, thank for the help guys. I am currently trying to get my Halo B running (though if that fails I'll look into a rotor) and I have my 45/45 dye tank getting recert'd
Aside from that it seems that I could upgrade the Barrel and/or Bolt but it is not necessary to start.
Thank You very much for all the help

Go pick up a .678 or .684 Lurker Eigenbarrel for $40 at his website and that's all you really need. (I've spent hundreds goofing with different barrels, and I almost exclusively use this barrel now. Best money you can spend.)
Later, when you want to tinker with your gun some more, get either the Lurker bolt or the Boss bolt. They are both great and will give your gun slightly less kick, will quiet your shot a bit, and increase your efficiency.
Past that...nothing. Enjoy having a marker that doesn't require you to pour money into it. A quick clean and a lube up after every hard day of play and it'll just work for you, week after week.

Here's a link to a thread of all the recommended upgrades for the Axe. There are also a few links on the bottom discussing this topic as well.

Lurker has the Axe & Mini Power Pack, which I always recommend. You get an Eigenbarrel and the Eigenbolt kit, plus a tube of Lurker Lube.
Use just the barrel first until you're comfy with the gun and then you have the Eigenbolt for when you REALLY want to tinker & tune to get the most out of your Axe.

Only comes with one of the barrels, not both.

A little bit of outside the box thinking but I enjoy the stock barrel. It is overbored though so I got the TechT ifit kit. Adds "1.75 to the stock barrel.

I've been talking with some guys about modding my Axe at Pev's Paintball and they said the only bolt that is good for the axe is the boss bolt and if you do a board only do the redline board.

I wouldnt even bother with buying a redline. get the shockwave board for 26$ and be done with it. Nice cheap alternative. Its waterproof and you can change modes and setting with the trigger.

I agree about the Redline, but the part about the bolts is bull****. Lurker's Eigenbolt is a great upgrade, not to take anything away from Boss's bolts which are great as well.
