Since you guys are absolutely convinced that a state in the American Union can't leave, how do you feel about a state in the European Union leaving?

We may have intended to be a confederation, but we aren't one anymore at least in function. Pretending we are doesn't make us one. The United States is not the European Union.

Its sad that all of this is all being taken as seriously as it is. All that this is is the bible belt is throwing a hissy fit because the Socialist, Islamic President from Kenya won the presidential election. As a native liberal Texan (yes, we do exist), I see first hand the hatred that President Obama's supporters get down here. Mostly from elderly old farts who were on the opposite side of civil rights, and preppy little teenagers whose only political opinion is based off of what mommy and daddy say. The fact that 23,000 people have signed off on a petition demanding that my home state secede from the union really doesn't surprise me, considering how prideful most of us are about Texas. If (Once again, sad that I have to even talk as if its a possibility) Texas were to attempt secession, then we would be looked upon as the biggest ****tards in American history. Look at all the bases and forts that the military has down here. All they would have to do is mobilize and march on the capital and remove those who attempted such a farce from power. The only thing that would stand in their way would be a few half drunk, trigger happy rednecks.

I will say this, in response to what was said before.
Around here, every corner still has Romney signs up and people on the side of the road chanting to vote Romney (well, now impeach Obama).
There was a single house I know of that had a few Obama signs up. You know what happened? Someone in some truck got in their yard and tore it up and made a note to cut up all the signs and leave them in the yard...

Wouldn't that be dangerous to do in Texas?

It's only for people that don't elect an unconstitutional president.

The fact that obama is an unconstitutional president is a fact whether you agree with it or not, so that's where your logic fails.

You are talking about the state constitution, right? As the state would provide the protections for private property.

Well, they've actually submitted the petition to the White House. It also seems that 17 other states have petitions circulating also. I still don't think it will happen, but it's gone farther than I ever expected it to get. Guess the White House is going to have to say something....
" At least 17 other states have similar petitions to the Texas secession request on the We the People forum including New Jersey, New York, Montana, Colorado, Louisiana, Georgia, Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Indiana, North Carolina, Kentucky, Mississippi, Missouri, South Carolina, Oregon and Michigan. The closest behind Texas was Louisiana with 15,617 signatures. "
I'm actually surprised Oklahoma isn't on that list since all 51 counties went for Romney. Of course, we'd never get the signatures because we have to many apathetic people here...

If there wasn't a ripple effect on the global economy, I couldn't really care less.
If I'm not mistaken, one of the EU treaties expressly allows for a member nation to withdraw from the EU.
EDIT: Article 50 of the Consolidated Treaties of the EU

The indivisible thing isn't in the US Constitution. Its some judge's interpretation of something that not only wasn't written down, but can't even be inferred through the minutes recorded during the second ratification. Its downright wrong.

and once again you outright LIE just to make a post (a single sentance post like ALL your posts are I point out)
http://datacenter.kidscount.org/data...gs.aspx?ind=43
The data is quite clear, Texas is no where near the top.
Now I have a major problem with you, almost every time you post, its a tiny jab or flame in an atempt to look cool. You don't offer insite or opinions, you don't have a "stance", you in fact are just a bad troll. So, how about you post up somthing other than a one sentance blurb, stand for somthing even if your flat out wrong (*note* like 90% of the kids on PBN that are too wet behind the ear to have any kind of life experence and understanding of the world).
