Going be applying for different jobs, since I got an aba now. Nothing against my current work place, but might as well use my degree.

Wonder if I should let me HR people know that I am looking.

as far as I know, unless you're a vital part of something, nothing more than a 2 weeks notice is necessary

No, you should not let them know you're looking. Some companies will terminate people as soon as it's known they're looking. Also, if you get another position, be sure you ask if you can start earlier than 2 weeks, in case your current employer doesn't honor your 2 week notice. Be prepared to be escorted out as soon as you give your notice.

Employers can suck these days. Besides, think of how much notice they'd give you if they were replacing you, rather than the other way around.

I think it's because they don't want you stealing stuff ind dicking around, because after you get a new job, you end up not caring about your old one.

This will depend on your relation ship with your current employer.

If you have a good working relationship with your employer and you are Valued. I would talk to your Supervisor about moving about internally towards a position that utilizes your educational skills and then have him talk to HR.

If they could give two ****s about you and your position. I would secure employment elsewhere. Once I have employment secured, salary agreed and a date secured to start (usually 2-3 weeks from the welcome aboard handshake). I would walk in with a Resignation Letter in hand and hand it over to HR with a "Thank you for everything" if they decide to terminate you on the spot woot instant 2-3 week vacation

Always leave on a positive note. Don't burn your bridges and always get a letter of recommendation for the future endeavors

pretty good relationship. It's not solid, but it's alright. Its nothing personal, just I have a degree and might as well use it. They hire kids right out of high school to do my job.

obviously for the application for new places, checking the "do not contact employer" is why it's there.

I'm actually in the middle of looking for a real job. I got my certificate to be an industrial electrician in August, and it's time to do something with it. I got my butt into gear today and signed up on my schools job hunt program, hopefully something comes from it.

I always allow them to contact my current employer and say something like... well, I never deleted my *insert job board here* account so it could be old. That way you seem like you always have options but aren't actively pursuing it.

Here, If you give 2 weeks notice and they terminate your early they have to pay you for the remainder of the time.

They don't have to pay you for time not worked... Texas is an at will employment state.

I was contemplating leaving the defense industry and started applying on some of the job boards. The only thing that took a while was finding one to pay enough. I got offered an engineering director position for an oil company and turned it down when my company gave me an offer.

I had a co-worker for about 3 weeks. He took on a part time job at about 10hrs a week. He just suddenly quit and claimed he went to quicken-loans, and talked his way up to 60k a year.

bull ****ter lol. If someone offer you anything over 10k, then go for it. cause at 10 hours a week thats double when you got now. Negotiated to a higher rate my ***.
