never shot or been around a clone, droid or drone. i'd say my quest was louder than my freestyles i had. the gen 1 and gen 2 freestyles were quieter than the 7's and 8's and they ran at a little lower pressure as well.

That may have been the difference... I can't remember which I had, but I'm pretty sure they were FS7s. Droids/ Clones are ridiculously quiet almost to much so. Drones are similar to quests IMO. I actually have a quest as my backup and still shoot it for the heck of it. It is a great gun and I wish I could find another 4b kit or RSF bolt for it. Funny how some great guns never caught on for whatever reason.

I sometimes think about picking up another spool. Thing is, I really did like both of the Shockers I had. They were fast, quiet, light, and they got the job done. And now that they're dirt cheap, that might be viable.

I always do the top hat mod on my DMs. Works great and costs pennies.

That's what my SFT was. I had a standard NXT also, but the Dark SFT was a spectacular little gun.

Same here. Had a pewter dark sft and a stock nxt. The trigger that warped had for the dark was magic

My old team got sfts for free and based on our experiences with those I would have been scared to actually pay for one, but I have no idea about the PL versions. We constantly stripped srews, wore off the anno fast and had other funky issues. Not sure if it's because they were some early versions, but 2 seasons worth of headache. The NXTs I bought used and they were fine. Even as much as I love MacDev the 07 Borg I bought new in 07 had issues out of the box. Nothing as serious as the sfts, but things like the wiring harness and the LPR schrader valve.
I'm not sure what my favorite gun I've ever owned was, but I'm leaning towards my ranjerz droid or my evolution cocker(s). There have been so many good guns. Believe it or not, when it shot my Angel IR3 was one of the best guns I've shot (especially at that time) but I couldn't keep it running.

The sft's used a softer grade of aluminum. Anodizing wore off much easier on the softer aluminum. As long as it was warm outside the shockers shot great. They didn't always fair well up here in the Northwest.

It wasn't the grade of the Aluminum. It was the type, grade and procedure of the anno.
Here in the Northeast they did ok in the cold, but your shot count per tank suffered.

I am not sure what the deal with the anno was, but the grip screws were to dang short and stripped easy. We practiced indoors and they worked fine, but add any inclement weather to the fold and they would get annoying. Seemed like they didn't like swollen paint and the eyes were annoying as was the board. Funnies part is that my first "high end electro" was a shoebox shocker so I had high expectations. I still think the NXT is a great gun, but wish they were cocker threaded.
