I think Obama is going to do just fine this fall. It's very easy to tell that the DNC won over voters. If this reaction means anything as to the results of the upcoming debates, it's going to get very ugly for Romney.

It's already ugly for Romney. He destroyed the GOP.

The GOP has been destroyed. I'm honestly surprised they couldn't beat Bush.

The Obama-leaning echelon of the media is certainly trying for a knock-out this week.
The narrative is that Romney is "done for" but I haven't seen Gallup or Rasmussen polls to back that up.
We'll see if the demoralization strategy works.

obama leading media, haha
you mean everything that isn't right wing propaganda like rush limbaugh and fox news?
sorry, but Romney's camapign of late has just been downright loony. if the media wasn't pointing out his ridiculousness than they wouldn't be doing their jobs. the media shouldn't be required to adhere to a doctrine of false centrism.

So much ammo for political humor these days and this forum is void of it other than a measly picture thread.

Good to hear you oppose the reinstatement of the Fairness Doctrine.
As you said, the press is indeed doing a fine job of pointing out the many problems with Romney's campaign. However, when the commentary repeatedly crows "it's all over" when the polls do not suggest any such thing, it smacks of an attempt to influence public perception beyond what telling the facts could do.
As for doing their jobs, if the media in general and White House press corps specifically cared to do their jobs they might be asking the president why his middle east policy has recently shattered: http://dailycaller.com/2012/09/17/wh...each-meltdown/
One has to rely on the foreign press to get a sense of just how big the storm of anti-American demonstrations and embassy assaults actually are.

Since when was David Brooks ever an indicator of mainstream American, let alone conservative thought?
This is the man who decided Obama should be president based on how nicely his pants were creased.
As for the National Journal, you'll have to link me directly which article you're referring to because when I went to their main page one of the first things I saw was this: http://www.nationaljournal.com/2012-...omney-20120918
If this race is actually over, I'll wait for the poll numbers to show it.

The Nebraska state legislature members currently make $12,000 per year plus per diem. On this year's ballot is a proposal to increase pay to $32,000 annually. There has been no pay increase since the 70's, so their pay has not even kept up with inflation.
I'm looking for input on this issue, as it's the one left on our ballots that I'm still undecided on. I feel that they do deserve more than the 12k they currently get, and also I feel like this may help encourage some of the more educated citizens in our state to fight for the job, and that people who don't already have money might be able to vie for the position along with those who who already do have money. Often times, people who already have money, run for election to protect their personal interests, and can take the low pay because they are already well-to-do.
On the other side though, maybe it's a good thing to have representatives who genuinely want the job to make a difference, and don't care about the low salary. And also, if we are increasing these salaries, although it likely would only make up a small fraction of the state budget, it could potentially mean less funding for vital state programs. There are definitely going to be major spending cuts to come, so in that sense it may not be the ideal time to raise their salaries at this time.
Thoughts?

I agree with your side not, Spracks. I'm not sure how time consuming the state legislature would be in Nebraska, I'd imagine that that would have a lot of impact on whether or not more pay is necessary.
For higher levels of government, I'd love to see pay reduced dramatically.

I completely forgot this thread was even here during the last debate. I guess Corp hasn't been around to remind us.

So your excuse for being wrong is because Obama's a drooling retard?

He should try it. Maybe then he would stop saying idiotic things like "Low gas prices caused the recession", "ATM's steal jobs", etc. etc.
