What is is this package worth? *2002 Black magic Auto Cocker*

So I havent played Paintball in a few years but am thinking of rebuilding my Micromag but I came across this add in my city today and am wondering the value of this stuff as I dont know much about the current prices. He is asking $350 Canadian ($351.40 US)

Here are the details:

"02 Black Magic Cocker

-2 Pure Energy 68ci. 4500PSI carbon fiber compressed air tanks

-Freak Barrel kit 14'' with all the Stainless Steel inserts (have a Dye boomstick SS 12'' + PMI ceramik series 10'' as well)

-Eclipse electronic grip v1 with eye for no paint chopping. (original version, the good one!)

-Eclipse manifold V2 (second and problem free one)

-Upgraded circuit board for grip frame (more fire control options+easy tuning through digital menu)

-Blade trigger (fully adjustable, best trigger for this gun+grip)

-Macdev Gladiator Regulator (one of the best on the market)

-Eclipse Mag44 Ram with QEV's

-Sonic secondary regulator (tool free adjustable)

-100% delrin Bolt and Back block

-Empire Reloader B Paintball Hopper (with manual loading wheel)"

He will also include a aluminum 3000PSI scuba tank for a fill station and a mask (not sure the model yet). From the pictures it looks like it is in good condition. Anything I need to know about this gun? Should I go for this package?

Sounds like an e-black magic. Good gun with the best ram ever, good reg, good barrels, has a halo hopper and 2 air tanks. I would say 350 is a pretty good price for all of this assuming everything works. Even if you had to re-hydro the two tanks it would only be 60-70 for both of them.

Yah it is the e-black magic. How does this gun compare to the newer autocockers? it is 10 years old, are they horribly outdated by the newer models?

Just newer cockers in general. I haven't been following the industry much these last 5 years so I'm not sure where the markers are really at these days.

Another question, I had some trouble in the past with electronic frames on my micromag. Can you run an e-black magic with a mechanical frame? or would you need to replace some other componants?

Well there ARE no 'new' models. WGP as we knew it hit an iceburg in the north atlantic, broke apart, and sank.
05 was the last of the real cockers. The BE/JT junk era started shortly after. Then it was picked up by J2/KEE who now owns it.

To make it a mech, you need to simply replace the frame and the 3way solenoid.
E framed Mags are not E framed cockers..

You need to find out specifically what board it has. He makes some references that aren't exactly easy to understand.

I assume V1 means the E1 version of the eBlade. There's nothing wrong with it, but the E1 board does not have ramping and uses batteries much faster than the E2, ZeroB, etc boards. He does mention an upgraded board - so you might find out what it has.

I also assume V2 manifold might mean the E2 version of the solenoid housing...which is made a little different; but I'm not sure either could be considered a bad design - the solenoid itself is the same.

Here's how the price breaks down for me:

Black Magic body w/ internals - $50-100 depending on condition
eBlade "kit" (eye, frame, noids, board, etc) - $80-125 depending on type and condition
Eclipse ram w/ qevs - $75
Freak w/ SS inserts - $65-160 - Depending on condition and # of inserts
Two 68 ci tank IN hydro - $120-190
MacDev regs - $40-60 for HPR and LPR
Reloader B - $35-50
SCBA tank - $???

So - low end I can see more than $350 worth of parts/gear if parted out.

The last of the "good" cockers was 2005/2006.

honestly any cocker can compare with one another depending on the parts, but the older black magics rip when tuned right, i love these guns.

Also you cant run an ecocker with a mech frame you would need to change it to a mech frame and a regular 3 way with a timing rod to make it mechanical...ecocker has to use eframe and mech cocker must use a mech frame.

freak git alone is worth near 125 or more
qevs are worth 40
ram anywhere from 35 - 55
glad reg 30 - 50
tanks 65 - 100 each (depending on hydro status/year)
e frame kit (solenoid + eyes + frame) 100
the body alone with lower internals and blocks/bolt would probably get you 75

all in all i would go for it and if you don't like it you would probably make your money back by selling it/parting it out

Seems like you have a solid playing marker. It will hang with all the current space guns if you tune it properly. Even if its just an E1. They hang if you know what you're doing.

If you decide to sell it, you will make more money if you part it out. Just don't get any tool marks on the parts or you will lose a lot of value.

Excellent point. Tool marks on the parts kill value extremely quickly.

And - the only negatives to the E1 board are no ramping (don't know if that matters to you) and battery life. But...an E1 is quite a bit cheaper than E2 - so you can afford to buy a few extra batteries.
