WGP Black Magic Reg Maintenance

Hey guys I'm trying to find out the best way to take my Black magic reg apart so it can be serviced. I have the c clip out... but I have no Idea how to get the reg body to unscrew... any ideas?

Have a set of work gloves? Or maybe some of those things that make getting the lids off of jars easier?

If not, you can TRY a strap wrench. If that doesn't work, get yourself some form of pliers and get ready to repair the threads you are going to damage with jewler's files.

God I wish that they had put an allen socket in the top part.

There's a good chance that you're going to have to tear it up to get it apart. You can minimize the damage if you have a table vise, or if not try to use vice-grip pliers. That way you have three or four symmetrical marks that can be Sharpie'd instead of scratches all around.

Finally got it apart, used a POS strap wrench to protect the threads and then used a pair of locking pilers tightly clamp the rubber.. it unscrewed rather nicely after that and did not damage the body or threads at all.
