Bought my first mechanical cocker

Bought my first mechanical cocker for $75 Its a blackmagic I have no idea what year. A friend was in need of money so I bought it but honestly have no idea what its worth so I just said $75. It needs to be cleaned and lubed I think and possibly tuned, It's shooting low (210-220 ish) I haven't touched anything on it yet but was wondering what lube these things like and any advice for them?

I know the rule of thumb for cockers is usually if its working dont touch it but he said its been sitting for about atleast 2 years untouched and im sure it needs a little work.

If it airs up and doesn't leak, don't touch it. To lube:

Remove barrel.
Put about 5 drops of oil in the ASA.
Thread tank on.
Dry fire about 15-20 times.
Clean up excess oil.
Reinstall barrel.

That color scheme and it being undrilled will fetch almost $300.

You might want to give you buddy an extra hundred bucks, you scored big time.

I think if you're into using the gun, you should read up on them and only start tinkering once you've got a fair idea of what you're doing.

Check out the stickies on here, custom cockers, and MCB.

Awesome! Yea the body is pretty much mint with 1 tiny nick and the frame has a bit of anno flaking on one side. Ill probably use it in when i get out and play in the woods with rec ballers.

I aired it up and their is no leaks cycles fine its just so damn quite ill have to get out and actually chrono it up with the reg.
One thing i did notice is the bolt orings look like crap they are discolored and a bit choppy... Should I not at least replace those??

Edit: after pulling them off the clean them and look at them closer there was some sort of deposit on part of the bolt and in the oring groove that looks kinda like a calcium deposit. could be rust but its white...

Discolored orings means its been regularly oiled.

If it shoots, DO NOT MESS WITH IT.
To turn up the velocity you need to remove the cocking rod and back block, turn in the brass cap a half turn, reassemble, and test.

on his he can just adjust the regulator since its an adjustable one, but yea OP you might want to head over to custom cockers and at least look up sweetspotting the reg since there is a bit of a balancing act between the reg/ivg/springs. you could probably just set the ivg about 2-3 threads in and just adjust the reg to the desired fps....thats the general sweetspot with stock wgp springs.

white stuff in the breach is probably just left over paint/oil goo.

all a cocker needs is a few drops of oil right into the asa every now and then.

and damn, that was a steal lol.

defiantly not goo or dried lube this is harder. I dont know how else to put it but it looks like rust it looks like some sort of rust or something that almost has etched a bit of the bolt. It will chip off but it also has left a bit of a scuff on the bolt after. I took off the backcap and did a half turn.

Sweet spotting this cocker should be the same as a 2k2 pump should it not?

Its most likely the anno layer from the breach wearing onto the orings.

You are seeing old lube or paint (white stuff) and aluminum (discoloration on o rings) that has worn off the breach.

OK..... I say the white stuff is a little corrosion, seen it before. When someone chops a ball in the breach and doesn't clean the paint out the left over paint does tend to corrode on the aluminum a little bit. I'd remove the bolt and run a barrel swab back and fourth through the breach. Remove O-rings and clean the bolt with a toothbrush, soap and warm water, then replace the O-rings with new ones, easy task.

The white stuff is not old paint i know what old paint looks and feels like... But you are probably right about the orings....

I see a lot of corrosion on these things from people not taking good care of their markers, especially on those venturi bolts (yours pictured). The corrosion loves the nickel plating on those bolts and when not cleaned correctly will bubble up from under the nickel coating. This is why you see a lot of nickel and chrome front blocks pneumatics and trigger frames peeling or bubbling.

yea here are some pictures of what it looks like after it was cleaned up a bit. I am pretty sure that's what it was considering he didn't clean really and it sat for over 2 years.

Ya I was already thinking of replacing it, Do you know how much a delrin bolt goes for?

Oh yea I thought it was 2 years of sitting it was actually 4.5 years of sitting I am amazed this thing is cycling with the old lube. I love the sound signature of mech cockers they are so badass.
