I do this as well. Cheaper, just as grippy, and no added bulk.

But I would recommend the Ninja butt cover if you want an actual cover. They'll stretch to stay on and one should fit most sizes.

If you want a full cover I would get either the NXe Elevation cover or the Dye Rhino cover. Both offer great protection. The Dye has more grip on the back.

I used to have the NXe and switched to the Rhino. Have to protect the awesome pink tank . The Dye has the best protection IMO.
