GOP's trouble with finding an electable candidate they can get behind?
I ask this as a younger (age-wise) independent, and I'm absolutely not trying to be incendiary here- why can't the GOP find an electable candidate that they can actually get behind?
I don't think I've met a single person (old or young) who is enthusiastic about Mitt, they're only voting for the guy because he's not Obama. If the ballot said "Osama Bin Laden (R)", they'd probably put a check next to his name too. It seems to me like there's a giant rift between the ideologies of the candidates the party can get excited about (i.e. Santorum, Perry, Bachmann, etc.), and the ones that they actually see as electable into higher office (W. Bush, McCain, Romney, etc.)

It's hard to appeal to the religious nuts and the independents and you waste decent candidates like McCain on lost years.

AngryBirds wondered why the GOP can't find and support an electable candidate. He asserted that Romney is an electable candidate but he's a centrist who can't get support from a lot of the radically right GOP. This is in contast to other GOP members (Santorum, Bachmann) who are radically right, but also blatently unelectable. L2K responded that the reason the GOP can't find an electable candidate is that the GOP's radically right views (as seen in Santorum, Bachmann, and the expectations for Romney) are unelectable. And they don't fully support people who are electable (Romney, Bush, McCain) because they expect them to appeal to their radically right views.
Try to keep up...

I think we'll see a wave of new faces in 2016 because they didn't want to take on Obama. The lineup was pretty weak this year.

No, you're only making it seem that way because you're taking my quote out of context, and relating it to someone else's post that I didn't even respond to.

No, they don't. That's entirely the point. Because of the GOP radical right beliefs, they have to choose between someone who believes what they do (Bachman, Santorum, Gingrich) and someone who is electable (Romney). This time they went with electable. How are you not understanding this? If you disagree, that's one thing, but, come on, this is very simple.
