REV-i barrel breaks

Hi. I recently picked up a used REV-i and took it to the field this past weekend. It shot great until I tried some evil tourney paint. I started getting ball breaks like crazy. It has a techt bolt, chronoed at 280, and was slightly overbored with the .689 barrel. I also ran the tune assist. Any ideas to get the marker to work better with brittle paint?

Make sure the eyes are good and double check the detents are stopping the ball.

you cant underbore on fragile paint specially at winter times. you may also have to increase dwell higher during cold temparatures.

Are the paintballs breaking in the barrel or in the breech?

The eyes are good and the breaks are in the barrel. I'll give upping the dwell a try.

can you try an aftermarket barrel and see what happens? Ive never had an issue shooting tournament grade paint in DP barrels but ive never shot evil.

dude it's the detents. change them out. that should solve the problem. check that the detents have the spings or good working springs.

DP stock barrel should shoot fine with ultra evil paint. his dwell might be too low and the HPR is too high.

this could work too cause the detents might be sticky or spring is worn and so as the detent itself.

but usually bore matching or under boring is really bad using evil paint. atleast for my experience.

He says he's slightly overbored. So is it best to actually overbore when using brittle paint?

Its called cold weather. You're gonna break brittle paint in these cold months.

Use thicker shelled paint during the cold months.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. I took a look at the detents and they look fine. I have a parts kit so I'll change them out anyways. I'll give the .693 back a try too. As far as the weather, I live in sunny San Diego and it was 85 degrees last Sunday.

One other thing to check is your settings. I see you ran the tune assist with the TechT engine. I've found that the tune assist doesn't work too well with the TechT engine. It may be that your bolt return setting is too short and the firing sequence is starting before the ball is fully in place. I would think your solenoid dwell should be somewhere around 12 +/- 1 or so and the bolt return > or = 10ms.

I dont know why everyone bothers with very low bolt returns (if thats the case). mine has been 20ms for a while with the engine.

Firefox - it is because they don't understand what it actually does properly. A lower bolt return will increase vibration and "kick" and sound. To get a smoother and quieter shot you should run the bolt return at a higher time to give the shot a smoother return and decrease "kick". This is what the manifold screw does on the luxe that gives the luxe such a smooth shot.

The tune assist is nothing more than an assist, it gives you a starting point to start tuning your rev-i.

I have not had my old Rev-i in quite some time but I believe the bolt delay only controls the time out in ms that the eyes do not mistake the bolt for a ball
