They don't just go to China. Sure a lot of low end manufacturing goes there, but contrary to the democrat platform there is more in play than manufacturing. Skilled labor is going to other western, industrialized countries because the tax rate is lower. My friend works for Johnson & Johnson and they do a ton of manufacturing (skilled manufacturing) over in Switzerland where they pay like zero income tax. Its not always a question of the actual rates, either. Many times a place offers a tax incentive like 10 years no tax. It works within the states. South Carolina does a lot of that, that is why a lot of industry has moved there. Some other countries do that as well. Its not all about the labor costs.

11.5% with limited deductions.

Sure we're trying to create jobs, the sad reality is the jobs required aren't coming back. You won't be able to replace manufacturing jobs at the rate they're leaving especially when you're cutting the green sector off at the knees.

Well when your HS doesn't give any information on things like that, or give you the opportunity to take more advanced classes than it's pretty hard.

I tried my entire HS career to take a foreign language. Not once was in even on the list of students that could transfer in it.

I'll admit math and science was my weak point but I did good enough to progress.

So no, when your school assumes you actually don't want to progress its kind of difficult. I was actually asked by my advisors "do you really want to take algebra 1 and make your life more stressful?"

I was like "ho, I'm in hs, what do you mean by my stressful life?"

This is what happens when your educational system fails you. Too bad that's not a Republican talking point.

Why are manufacturing and green jobs the only jobs that are required? Because they vote democrat?

If you look at the majority of jobs lost and those that aren't being replaced, they're skilled labor jobs such as manufacturing. Where's the next manufacturing boom going to come from?

No wonder you're so liberal growing up with that kind of family.

Nah, that's my deadbeat fathers side that I don't talk to or was ever hardly around. She just still calls my mom sometimes because of the way my dad treated her.

Well people could be mining coal or drilling for oil, but those industries don't vote D so they are unimportant.

While in Afghanistan, I kept thinking "man, these people are retarded, no wonder their country is so messed up."

...but apparently Americans are just as retarded. I've lost a lot of faith in the system these past few years.

I wish we could mine coal and drill oil. I'd work an oil field during the day, and underground at night.

Are you kidding me? There are all kinds of oil booms going on around the country. Those aren't the jobs being discussed because they're not stable and provide no infrastructure beyond the few years they produce oil. It's looking and investing in today instead of investing in the future. Shortsighted to say the least.
