no one in your conference even attempts to play defense. Texas and OU aren't good this year. Therefore, the Big 12 is a joke.

So because the historically above average teams are not quite as good as in years past that makes the whole conference bad?

when they haven't beat any good OOC teams, yes.
Kansas State is hyped as **** because they beat Oklahoma. But Oklahoma is not that good, so the win doesn't mean that much. They beat a few other scrub in conference teams and we're to believe they're so good. There's probably 5 teams in the SEC that would beat them.
