Need A New Laptop, Need Help

So my Sony vaio e series got stolen out of my house as well as some other things so I am in need of replacing it ASAP for school
I need ur opinions and experience on what to get
I have a $1000 budget
13" screen or bigger
Good battery life
Full keyboard
Two or more USB ports

I am considering a touch screen so I can write essays and turn them to text as I am a slow typer, do touch screens tend to have a lot of problems with the touch feature?

I am on the Internet A LOT so it needs to be fast, I am not using to game so I don't need special graphics

Please don't post me ur laptops for sale

PM azatur for your computer needs, he has great prices. Ask him about his "hot" discount; be sure to mention the promo code NOTSTOLN.

You want a touch screen because you're a slow typer? But writing an essay on a touch screen would be faster? That's really hard to believe. How can you be that slow at typing in this day and age anyways?

Also,

" I am on the Internet A LOT so it needs to be fast, I am not using to game so I don't need special graphics"

That's not dependent on the laptop, that's dependent on whose internet you're using at the time.

I'd get a Lenovo ThinkPad if you want to spend money. They're well built and have good keyboards. Or a cheaper Lenovo/Toshiba if you don't need the quality.

For cheap, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16834246497, check slickdeals for laptops as well, you don't really need anything more than $400 honestly.

Never thought I'd see the day where people sucked at keyboards because they used their smartphones too much.
Almost nobody our age can write a decent essay not just because keyboards are too slow but also because nobody knows how to write anything decent thanks to text messaging and all that ****.

OP, since it sounds like you are severely challenged when it comes to the whole "writing" thing, might I suggest you go full retard and get some software that will record your voice and convert it to text? There's probably an iphone app that does that. Hook up iPrint or AirFax or whatever the hell it's called and you will be golden. Who needs computers anyway?

I saw a laptop with a touch screen where u could write on there with a stylus and then convert it to text, like writting on paper then turning it to text, that I liked cause I can write faster than I type, I need to know If the touch feature tends to have problems

Pretty much any machine with a capacitive touchscreen and Windows 7/8 plus the requisite "productivity" programs will be able to do that. For example, I know OneNote 2010 can do it no problem. The reason this feature is rarely talked about is because you will be endlessly chasing grammatical and formatting errors plus all of the inevitable mistranslations on the part of the software.

Learn to type. It will take you far in life, and in the short term you wont end up wasting your money on a machine with a touchscreen.

It's not even a "skill" anymore, it's just something an employer will assume you can do at this point in human history.

Ok, I can type, I just like to write better, lets get off this subject of touchscreen and what do u guys think is the best laptop overall, in every category, like battery life, the screen clarity, I'm going to best buy either later today or tomorrow so I want to have an idea on what to pay attention to

If you're in Phoenix go to Fry's Electronics, not Best Buy. Fry's has a Lenovo for $288, an ASUS for $378, a higher end Lenovo for $600, etc. Any of them would work for what you're doing, besides the touch screen which won't be very cheap and isn't worth doing.
