I was wondering what some of your personal experiences were with this mos.

Could you guys give me some pros and cons?

I'm pretty excited and I've heard alot about you guys. (my recruiter was 19d for awhile and my dad served in iraq as a combat medic with alot of 19d)

**** you. I'm about to be a civillian again. Worst decision of my life. Wish i would have done something that i can atleast get a job with or some skill.

Be prepared to become an alcoholic, deal with big ole dicks who only belong in the army because they dont fit into the civvy world, and taking the greenie weenie every five minute.

I hated every minute of it.
Now that I'm out, I miss every damned second.

All the scouts in country that I have come across this deployment have done nothing more than escort eod out for calls and run tower / ecp guards. 3ID just moved in up north and from what I'm told, they're a bunch of dickbags enforcing garrison rules.

Oh dont buy a stetson when you get out of basic, you cant wear it til you have spurs. And when your a pvt you think that ****s cool, when you come back from a deployment you think its cool for a month, then realize its stupid, and that you spent 300 bucks on something you cant drink.

Then lil pvts will start wearing them when they go through they're extra day of basic. They'll try to smoke you for not wearing yours, you'll laugh and remind them who went to a foreign place to kill people. Then an obnoxious e6 will tell they can. Then youll go out to the parking lot and loosen that e6's cars lug nuts before final formation to try and make the world a better place.

Then later lil pvt will call up to hang out. Da boys will drink him almost dead because hes only been in the army a minute. Throw him in a bathtub, throw his keys in the pool, and go downtown

And thats like every friday in the cav

I randomly have orders for spurs and a stetson from 3ACR and I don't have any idea why, I never did **** for them. They must not take it that seriously if they hand **** out like that.

no, I never deployed with those bozos. I guess they had operational control of some sector we passed through for like a day long operation and 4 months later they randomly mail us certificates with our names on them and "ORDER OF THE SPUR" huge across the top

Pretty much sums up most of my deployment. First 3 months we actual did some things then it turned into making the fob beautiful and improving it for the next unit replacing us so our CO and 1st sgt can look good.

Actually doing the Scout job is bad ****ing ***... finding BN leadership that uses us correctly is very hard... expect a lot of bull****.

lol...And when was the last time you actually did this?

We just did real scout training at the platoon FTX. In over seven years as a 19d that's the first time I have ever done real scout missions. It was awesome.
