Like you air it up and air comes out the barrel?

Your seal in your valve is bad. You could replace it, which is pretty hard with the 98 valves, or you could replace the valve, which is a bit costly.

You can also try contacting Tippmann, they may swap your old one for a new one.

Yep the seal is bad in your valve. Have you tried putting oil in the Asa and airing up the gun and dry firing to lube up the valve? May help...but I would suggest changing the oring in the valve. Pm me if you need additional help!

Try cocking your 98 before you air it up.

Put about 5 drops of oil in the ASA before you connect the tank.

If its leaking out from where the line connects to the valve your line may be loose as well.

You can try removing the line from the powertube/ valve, cleaning the threads, using some pipe sealing tape (NOT LocTite) and re-attaching it. Pipe sealing tape can be bought at just about any hardware store for around $2 a roll. That should solve your leak in the line.

If its only occasionally leaking out the barrel, add some oil into the ASA like Tony and Chester said. But do that after you re-seal the gas line. Then that should fix the barrel leak issue. If it doesnt, your valve is bad.

Is it a 98 Custom (Pro) or is a 98 Custom Platinum Series? If it is the Platinum Series just tighten up the line and you will be good to go. If it is a Custom (Pro) you will have to remove the line, clean the threads, and re-install using teflon tape. Either way cocking it and putting a couple drops of oil in the ASA before airing it up should take care of the occasional barrel leak.
