Keeping a shocker gassed up
For those of us without on/off asa's, are there any disadvantages of keeping a shocker gassed up all the time? I just installed the eigenbolt so I would assume the spring mod would help with fsdo even if the bolt has constant pressure applied against it for extended amounts of time, but I've never used a spring mod so idk.
Any input is appreciated.

I wouldn't recommend leaving your gun gassed up for 2 or 3 weeks while it sits in your closet at home, but if it's for an hour in between games at the field, that's fine.

Okay. Any consequences of allowing the bolt to stay sprung into the breach for weeks at a time? Seems like it could hurt stock detents by compressing them for so long.

If you are that worried about it. Just take your bolt guide and spring out and set somewhere.

I've never had a problem with mine either, also if you worries about it why don't you just take the detents out instead of the bolt guide and bolt, that way they don't get dusty you don't have to worry about knocking it around and getting lube everywhere

Your detents will be fine. I've had a sprung shocker for almost 4 years now, and those detents still work great!

i think the issue with bolts being forward and messing up detents is mostly aimed towards intimidators and egos that have soft detents that can be deformed. but a shocker detents are delrin and sprung, so i dont think they wear out as easily.

O-rings are not perfect seals, no matter how good they are. By leaving your gun gassed up, you're leaving pressure against a greater length of seal which means more gas will escape. Your tank would probably be empty after a few weeks, if not sooner.
And as stated, since the detents are sprung there's no need to worry about the bolt being forward.

That's a poppet. There's a difference between axially sealing 020's and tiny little compression seals for the manifold.

I appreciate the input, guys. My concern for keeping a shocker gassed up was for time frames of 1 hour or less.
I had a lot of issues with double feeding last weekend using the eigenbolt (Reloader B - Setting 1; new batteries). There was a lot of shootdown and FSDO so I upped the dwell to around 15 ms. I read on the Dye forums that increased dwell can cause double feeding but I don't understand why that would be the case. Any ideas? I've never had double feeding issues before with any hopper and I've been using the same Kila detents for about 5 years.

I've no idea about the the Dye dwell thing, but have you checked your detents? If you've been using them for 5 years, they may be worn out. Or just dirty.

Ya..depending on which Kila's you have..you may need to add more magnets internally (if they are the old style) or add the magnet to the outside of the body if you haven't already (if newer style).
