Empire Contact Zero pant size

I am 6'0 and weight 230. My regular pant size are 38-40... And based on Empire sizing chart I should be buying the XL. But I read everywhere that I should go up a size or two.

Should I follow Empire chart or everyone else advice? I don't wanna screw myself buying XXL only to find out I cant get it to stay on my waist.

Thanks in advance.

I would personally buy a size up. But I have kind of the same issue, except it's with height (I'm 6'5", 190lbs) so I'm forced to buy Xxl. Worst comes to worst, buy a baseball belt. 99% of pants are adjustable nowadays, but with the belt, it's not going anywhere.

Hope this helps
