We are a D4 team centered around the Chicagoland area but have players that travel as far as Wisconsin. We started this season with a different vision of how a team should be, correcting some of the issues we all have experienced in the past, and overcoming with specific structure. We are a non profit company that has modeled our team using the business experience of our leadership.
What does this mean for a paintball team? It means a contractural obligation for a single season, the same as if you shook hands and made a verbal commitment, but truly taking that next step of agreeing to our standard of conduct, attendance, and helping to build our brand. Scary thought for some but with plenty of flexibility built in to address what happens in your paintball and outside lives (for some, those are one in same).
We also understand that in order to be successful it's about a long term thought process. We aren't looking to have this team around for a season or two and in that time try to accomplish things that aren't realistic. We certainly have goals, but understand there are many building blocks to making that all happen. Yes we currently play D4 but will not be content with this for long. It is this mentality that we are looking for in the members we bring on. We also get that when its time to hang up the cleats for some of us in paintball (not any time soon) we want this team to have enough leadership and like mindedness to continue on. We also want to walk away with something at the end of the season more than just the great memories, and to that end will be having a photographer at every event and even some practices. Building on this we also have committed our team to a social media presence to promote our team and values. Our partnership with both Fierce Photo and Social Paintball are key to this endeavor.
Sorry for the long build up but now onto the point of posting here. We currently have found 5 players that share in this vision but our goal is to field an xball line. We had hopes of the XPL, then shifted to the PSP, but now have sites set on the NXL. This year we are content to keep it local, playing in the premier CPL 5 man and some other events in the Illinois and Wisconsin areas. We are needing those people who believe in our vision, have the monetary willingness (all the stuff mentioned is not free), and want to help us build something more. We don't have any large gear packages to purchase and only require a Social jersey and pants purchase. We do have membership dues, but make decisions on all expenditures as a team. At the end of the year we need to zero out so surplus monies ultimately come back to our players hands. This allows us to cover unexpected costs at events and to avoid that all too common situation where players at an event don't have the necessary funds. All financials are transparent with invoices being issued and statements shared on your personal account status. Players of all levels are encouraged but overall attitude is most important. We have grown slowly from an idea to fielding a 5 man team and now are focusing on expanding. We call our home CPX but do play at some other fields in the area as well to grind out with other teams.
