Poison ivy and rec ball

I get poison ivy at least once a year at work, but never while playing paintball. At work I'm careful and watch where I'm stepping, or what I'm touching while I'm in wooded areas, playing paintball I just run through the brush, slide, crawl, etc. without a second thought. Last weekend that changed, no poison ivy from work or camping, picked it up on a woodsball field. I took of my gloves to adjust my loader and feedneck and must have gotten it on my hands, from there to my forehead, around my eyes, mouth, forearms and waistline. I'm a walking rash, but at least I got a good day of recball in before the itching started. Anybody else have this happen?

To add insult to injury, the reason my rotor wasn't feeding properly was that a 9v somehow made it's way into the speed feed while in my gearbag.

I scrubbed up when I got home but that was a good 9 hours after that first game, too late. Didn't realize what had happened until the next morning.

Two words: Tecnu Extreme. Use it on your rash and it will keep it from spreading, and it will heal much quicker.

I play at a field that has poison oak, and while I've never been able to find a single plant out there, it keeps finding me. I've started to wash my hands with Tecnu every time before I leave the field.

Wash your gear after EVERY game in HOT water if you are allergic to poison ivy/oak...

I must not get it, as I've never gotten it playing and I am often deep in thick brush. I see it a lot playing actually, and have even noticed I had my hand right on it before, but never got a rash...

Oh, and don't scratch it, if you do, you break it open and spread it with your fingers to everywhere else you touch. It is an oil, and if you get it on your clothes, or fingers then touch something else it is now on that, and that is how it spreads. If you get it on a spot, COVER IT UP, so it doesn't spread.

"Two words: Tecnu Extreme. Use it on your rash and it will keep it from spreading, and it will heal much quicker." I grabbed some of that stuff and am using it religiously now.

I must be really allergic, seems like if I look at it wrong I break out. I got the stuff on Saturday and woke up this morning looking like I'd lost a boxing match...
Thanks guys. Technu and Benadryl for days.

EEk.. We always check new 'fields' for ivy before using them. Tons of it around here, but thankfully never on a field.

Tehcnu works very well AFTER you come in contact. It will wash away any remaining oil and also relieve any itching if it's to that point.

Also, a product called Ivy Block is good for BEFORE you get in contact. It creates a barrier on your skin.

Poison iv grows mainly in the ground. Has 3 leafs. "1,2,3, don't touch me!" Is how I remember

You can spend $4,000 on a tournament and play 10 30 minute games, or spend $200 on a scenario and play 48 hours non stop.

Your best bet is to immediately wipe down inbetween games and after play. A wet rag can go a long way as poison ivy is spread by the oil in the leaves. Takes a couple hours for a rash to develop so the sooner you get to it the better.

Oh man, I feel bad for you all. I'm not allergic but I can't imagine the pain to love woodsball but never being able to play on account of poison ivy.

Lava soap works good also. You can find it in the automotive section at most stores (walmart/etc) I can't seem to go to a summer game without getting poison ivy.
