Honestly, while I think group buy sites like massdrop are a great idea, I really don't think it will be that successful here. If you guys are selling a rotor and need that many people to commit to buy one for 10 bucks less than what you could get it for on amazon with free shipping... the business model doesn't work in more of a niche field like paintball, unless the deal is much better. If you could group buy rotors for maybe 100 a piece, then people would commit. Otherwise, it won't really work well.

Maybe if you guys started working with markers it would be better. You could probably organize a group buy for $200 off a geo or something pretty easily because they are already so expensive so PE makes higher margins.

Let me see what we have in stock. I think we've got a fair amount of JT Impulse Markers available. Check the Massdrop page later on today and we'll see what we can do.

Also, remember, if there is anything you'd like to see on the site, make sure to create a poll or vote and we'll do everything we can to get it for you!

If you commit to the spire and the crown, you'll get both shipped to your door at the same price as a brand new spire alone.

Sounds good to me. Just the waiting-game is annoying.

Paid news up with map violations? Wow :/

I post up stuff that hasn't been sold new in 5+ years and I get warnings/posts closed/infractions and told that if I continue, I'm banned.

I am all for better deals, that's awesome for the players (including the dealers who play!) because it's an expensive sport/hobby, but I am not sure if this is kosher...

You're right. It does.

And then you see why your local shops go under or go to shady business practices to stay afloat. Or you see why people start running internet/wholesale sales only. They're competing with their dealers.

Nevermind..

You tell me what your budget is and I will help you out left and right.. Massdrop doesn't care who you are but I know your local field/pro shop does.

I'm the exact same way, I will go out of my way to help a kid out if they need something. I won't, however, break MAP rules and violate terms of contracts with manufacturers to do it.

Yup. I just hunted down a deal on an axe for a guy. I made $zero, but I helped him get something special for his kid.

I assume they are selling them to mass drop at wholesale just like any other retailer or pro shop so to them it doesn't matter as long as they are moving product

Where is the MAP violation? All prices advertised are equal to the other big online vendor prices. Having a members club price (paid membership or free) is not legally regarded as MAP violation. A manufacturer may end your purchase rights illegally for such actions, but they also tend to have much deeper pockets to fight a lengthy legal battle in such a case. Massdrop seems to be following the law as far as MAP is concerned, to the best of my knowledge. My understanding is that MAP is not broken online if you are required to login of some nature to see the price. The login is considered actively inquiring about the best possible price and therefore is not an Advertised Price but a Quoted or Selling price. Nobody has the legal right to tell you what you must sell and item for, though the big manufacturers often have enough muscle to do so.

I hate the argument that this is bad for small businesses. If the customer doesn't care about the small business, or the local field, maybe the local field is doing something wrong. Maybe they are in a market that can't support such a sport. I enjoy supporting quality small businesses but that doesn't mean they automatically deserve all of my money. If you are worth what you think you are worth as a small business customers will still spend money with you. My closest field is 40 miles away. I'm supposed to drive an hour there, an hour back, and spend higher than MAP prices to support a mediocre field that doesn't have enough people half the weekends to even open for play? No thanks.

What makes the guys at Massdrop, trying to make money by offering low prices, evil? They find markets that care about price first and supply customers with what they want. If paintballers cared more about the local field and the mom and pop stores, Massdrop wouldn't have the ability to sell to them. The reality is many paintballers want the best price regardless of who made the profit. Massdrop isn't evil for that. They saw a market, the same as the mom and pop paintball stores, and are selling to it, same as the mom and pop paintball stores. I see a lot of jealousy and bitterness in small business when they realize they aren't competitive to the customers desires.

I hate buying from the big chain stores or the large online retailers. Its not who I'd like to see profit from me. I try to support as many local and small businesses whenever reasonable and possible. I also have never bought from Massdrop and don't plan to. I don't think their prices are good enough to justify a purchase through them. It seems a quality small retailer can come pretty close to the same prices, can offer better service, and will be there longer to help with future issues and needs than someone like Massdrop. Its also nice knowing good people with similar interests are seeing the profit. But, if the next guy doesn't have those same values in what a small retailer can offer, Massdrop is doing nothing wrong by offering to what a market cares about most (ie price). We are a generation of people looking for throw away items at the bottom price. Its the current mentality. There is nothing wrong with selling to the current market demands.

You can't say something is $185 and then say PM or follow the link for best price.. It's a clearly against MAP.

I don't feel entitled to anyone's business, I earn it just like any other small business.
