Since the pictures in the old thread aren't there anymore, I decided to take my own when I did the mod.
Tools Needed:
-Hacksaw
-Files (various textures for smoothness)
-Precise ruler, gonna need to measure down to 32nds of an inch
-Piece of leather or thick cloth to protect the body of your gun from scratches. I did not use one because it was not important to maintain looks, but even so i did very minimal damage to the anno, most of it is covered by the ego feedneck.
Step 1:
Vice your body. I measured and cut at 18/32" for the initial cut with the hacksaw. Leave yourself enough room to file it smooth and level, since a hacksaw probably wont give you a level cut.
Step 2:
Square off your feedneck. I measured 4/32" into the sides of the feedneck and used a very fine hand saw to cut straight down. You want your final outer diameter to be 29/32". size may vary between feednecks, so measure yours and don't cut too far in. Once i marked where I wanted to cut, I used the edge of a file to start my groove. This helped immensely, since my blade could not jump out of the slot.
Step 3:
Now cut the corners off the square. Once again, don't cut too far in. I used the same hand saw that i used to square the feedneck. Yes, I cut a corner off before I took the picture. The saw I used for the vertical cuts is in the second picture. I recommend something that small to avoid cutting too thin.
Step 4:
File the neck into a circle. I did this with some large hand files, using a semi smooth surface for most of it. Once I got the feedneck semi-round, I just eyeballed it and decided which parts needed to be thinned out. I also used the Ego feedneck as a guide to show where I needed to file.
Step 5:
File the height down to where you want it. I wanted my feedneck flush to the body of the gun, so I filed it down to 14/32". It sits nicely on the flat parts of the body surrounding the feedneck. 14/32" is pretty much as low as you can go. However, if you want it higher, just file and test fit the feedneck until you get it where you want it. After you get everything where you want it, deburr and file the edges smooth. I did this with a deburring tool, but a file will do the same job.
Finished Product:
Overall Measurements:
Outer Diameter - 29/32"
Height - 14/32"
Ego Measurement Pictures:
Note - The ruler in the second picture was angles slightly to try to cut off the glare. the actual measurement is between 13/32" and 14/32"
