Canadian Importing & Reshipping for Markers

Noticed that there could be a need for this after looking at a couple of threads.

I'm a Canadian born individual living in northern Minnesota, and I travel back and forth to Thunder Bay, Ontario 1-2 times a week. Recently, the Canadian government has restricted mailing of paintball markers cross-border from the United States.

As such, I'm offering 3rd Party Service for Importing Markers into Canada and reshipping them in Canada.

Please be aware of the following:

Duty is 13% of the total value of the marker including shipping when bringing into Canada. Please do not think to undervalue the marker as rather than use the selling price if they feel that the cost is too low they can use their own Estimated Retail Value when assigning duty.

Packages must be opened as paintball markers will have to be inspected by customs to ensure they comply with firearms laws. (Markers are now listed as unregulated firearms).

Speedball/Tourney style markers in .68 caliber generally have no issues. Mil-Sim in .68 caliber that require tank and hopper generally have no issues. Mag-fed, .50 and .43 caliber, pistols and air-though-stock do have issues and are likely to be held or seized. As such, only Mil-Sim needing hopper and tank or speedball style guns will be accepted.

NO AIRSOFT - ALL AIRSOFT GUNS ARE SEIZED BY POLICY AT BORDER

What this will cost you:
1. Duty (13% of Price & Shipping in USD)
2. Reshipping Cost - Depends on Size & Weight
3. $20.00 - My fee
4. PayPal fee for 1-3 above

The Plan:
Prior to sending the marker I will need emails from both parties with the following information:

Seller
Name of Seller:
Address of Seller:
PDF or JPEG copy of PayPal invoice/receipt
Tracking # & Shipping Company
Size & Weight of Package if Known

Buyer
Name of Shipper:
Address of Shipper:
PDF or JPEG copy of PayPal invoice/receipt

Based on the size & weight provided, I will get a quote for UPS, FedEx and Canada Post and send to both parties. If everyone agrees my address will be provided to seller for shipping. I will invoice via PayPal for duty, shipping method of choice and my fee to buyer.

I will not ship or transport across the border without having received payment.

I have limited feedback as I'm a recent addition to pbNation. My email is http://myworld.ebay.ca/investmentbullion as well if it helps.

I cannot find any proof of this, the laws have not recently changed, can you show me when this happened? (I see the restrictions on magazine fed paintball markers, but not any normal marker, even scenario).

I have to ship a marker to Canada (as I did last week) so might need to use your service.

Thanks

Dan

I'm unsure of if any laws have changed, but for some time the regulation of markers has caused them to be classified as 'unregulated firearms'. Many do not have issues getting across the border depending on how they are labeled, however many of my fellow ballers in and around northwestern Ontario have had hold ups importing from fairly well known sites (ANSGear, Mecca Paintball, etc..). After speaking with some teams that we have friendly rivalries in Winnipeg, MB and Saskatchewan, it seems that they have been having similar issues and are having to turn to stores north of the border for 20-30% more plus taxes when they would prefer used gear.

All that I have been doing is printing out the manufacturer's documentation, presenting it at customs when I cross clearly identifying it as .68 caliber, and depending on the border guard it takes 10-30mins and they will copy down the registration or serial #'s. Not one seized out of 10-15 in the past year.
