The final cost will determine whether this does well or is just another Bob Long M-TAC. Milsigs are extremely overpriced (well were for an A5 clone with a mag) if this gun comes in uner the 500 range Dye will have a hit. Over that range it might have a hard time competing in the mag fed market. I want one, but the price..........

A little disappointed they went for a push button fire selector rather than a four position selector switch. A question that they failed to mention is whether or not this marker will be able to use the other mag systems currently out there...

There's a huge difference between the Mtac and the DAM.

The mtac was just a prettied up normal gun with a bunch of rails added, and a stock that did nothing but interfere with a mask, and it could only be hopper fed.

This is a dedicated scratchbuilt platform that's built around mag fed performance without sacrificing usability.

Its DYE, so it wont be under $500 and it probably wont be compatible with anything else.

I'd say even if its over $1000, its still a much better option (hypothetically) performance wise than any of the current high-end Milsig stuff thats selling for around $950.

Also way more mobile and practical than the $1500+ Carmatech SAR-17 I dunno man, it looks super cool, but I don't play a lot of woodsball so my opinion doesn't reflect the way those guys feel at all.

Pros:

Eyes - check. About freaking time on a magfed. Though the K1 did it first.

3shot burst - check. Also about freaking time.

FS Support - check. Always good.

lowered ergonomic stock - check. Needed for milsim paintball.

Gas thru frame - about time for Dye, and needed for milsim also.

Cons:

10+10 mags only - just when you thought it was ahead of the pack, turns out it's not. A true 20 round mag will be needed before I'm interested even if only the first few can be FS since they wont go around the corner.

No HPA stock option - yet. Guess we'll have to wait and see.

Personally the 10+10 mags are a dealbreaker and wont be enough to sell me this over a milsig M17. Also need an HPA stock since remote lines = yuk. I'm waiting for a magfed electro with proper mags to hit the market before I'll shell out bazillions of money. (I know about the K1 but that's even more expensive and seems to be near-vaporware anyway).

I to am curios about the price and what a set of magazine is worth. From the video the marker sounds rather loud for a spool so I am thinking the valve is more from a reflex or lower end spooly then a nt or dm series.

If you look at the mag as he pulls it out of the dam to reload, it looks almost identical to the tacamo/ rap4 d-mag. If that's the case I believe (as in dont quote me) carmatech (the guys working on the sar) own the right to the mag which means that they might be compatible...

Also, dye needs a way to do an air through stock version or mod for the people that want to run it as a fully mag based gun.

THIS IS NOT A "CON"! You obviously don't have much experience with FS rounds. 10 and 10 in one mag is really good; a lot better than 8 round magazines. And there's almost no point in having half a mag stacked with FS and the other half .68 cals.

It's definitely a con if you plan to play magfed mostly with regular paint. If not for the lack of eyes, milsig and rap4 are better for normal magfed play. The reason I mentioned 8 FS rounds is for those who would want a mag to support FS and then be able to use it for a proper 20 round with regular paint. Perhaps they'll release a normal paint only 20 rounder. Then I'll be sold.

I still think this is a great move for dye. It's just missing two or three key features that for me at least are important.

I like milsim stuff about as far as I can throw a rock. However, I do play a lot of scenarios and it would be hella good if I could switch to FS rounds to get those ****ers who stand off in the distance waving at me.

That's pretty sweet to switch from mag fed to hopper fed quickly.

I wish we had some really good CQB / Assault scenario fields around here so I could justify owning something like this. It would never make sense for airball, but I almost want to get one and dress in camo just for laughs.
