Meh, I don't play games enough to warrant spending any money on them at all.
Plus I don't have money to spend on them... At all.

I lived in Anaheim and then Yorba Linda so it's all Orange County, which is 2 hours or so north of San Diego. As far as living in Orange County goes, I really liked it. Huntington Beach is 20 minutes away and we could always head over to Newport Beach or Laguna Beach (35 minutes or so) depending on what kind of crowd we were looking for. The people are chill, but generally *******s. The standard was wealthy, so if you weren't riding around in a nice car people would look down on you.
San Diego is pretty similar, but without the huge focus on wealth. The climate is nice but you can count on dry 100* summers. I decided to go to school in Washington for the rain and change in culture. The people in Tacoma/Seattle genuinely seemed nicer. No more super hot weather and I actually got seasons (in SoCal you get 100* hot or 50* pouring rain). The air quality in SoCal is also pretty ****ty, mainly because we don't get all that much rain. I still can remember the difference in the smell of the air in SoCal compared to the Pacific Northwest.
I don't know what you're specifically looking for in your city, but San Diego is big enough to where you'll probably be able to find anything you'd want. You're close to the border so you can actually get some authentic Mexican food (and it's good/cheap). It'll be different from Ohio for sure though.

apparently SOPA is back as a ransomware virus:
http://torrentfreak.com/sopa-is-back...-virus-121011/
Just a well organized scam:
Quote:
I've been dealing with these MoneyPak scam viruses for a few weeks now. They all use this same format, but under different branding (I.e. FBI). Several people do fall for the scam, and to be entirely honest, the page is rather well put-together and convincing. I've removed this for several people, some of which have already paid the two hundred dollars "ransom".
For people with limited experience on the Internet or in law, this is a very scary message to see when you turn your computer on. They just want their name cleaned at that point and will pay whatever fee they see necessary. Several of the people I've worked with were hysterical and in tears!
On a technical level, though, this is a simple virus. Not sure where people are picking it up all the time (I see it ~1-2 times a day), but I have noticed a startlingly high correlation with it and outdated versions of Java, pointing to a possible exploit there. The biggest tool against these scams is, needless to say, education.
*edit - I'd also like to clarify that some of these (most of them) are much more convincing. They use excellent grammar, cite realistic-looking laws and codes, and can even hijack a webcam. Since it is a simple virus, though, it is easy to reverse-enineer and change things up. The quality of these scams varies wildly.

I'm sure that's exactly what an FBI page would look like...
It wouldn't even be a page from the FBI if CISPA/SOPA had gone through.

Well I was here for 2 of the weeks since 1 of them I spent in Berlin with my program. A couple of days is definitely enough Oktoberfest for me. Here in Munich they call Oktoberfest "Wiesn," which literally means field. And there's Wiesn hinter Wiesn, which is a grassy knoll basically right behind Theresienwiese (where Oktoberfest is held). People usually go to Wiesn hinter Wiesn to either sleep, have sex, or pee. It's kind of hilarious to see people sleep while pee is running down the knoll and soaking their clothes.
Hauptbahnhof (central station) also had a bunch of people sleeping on the floor since the trains here stop at 2am and resume at 5am. Locals like to call them Bierleichern, which is literally "beer corpses". I think the craziest thing for me were how many truly attractive girls were there. Not hot (still lots of hot girls), but beautiful girls that you wanted to take on dates instead of one night standing them. Only problem was that it's hard to tell if they're 17 or 24. In America I could easily differentiate, but here everybody has a similar level of fashion (Munich's really awesome fashion-wise and not underground fashion like Berlin) and their faces all looked mature, so you could chat up a girl and then find out she's still in Gymnasium (high school equivalent).

Nice I just want a change of pace. The climate and city life are what really interests me. Plus the beach. It will be a huge change.
