Nope! All are welcome! I am Andrew

Who is in charge of pm'ing people now? lol

Vijil: hopefully your ideas become a source of income

RLN: RC Cars...the only other hobby I would pick up right now instead of paintball lol. My brother has one and it is so sick. Between paintball and photography I have too many expensive hobbies for a college budget lol

RC helis are awesome too. If you go RC cars, RC drift is always fun!

What's the airsoft scene like in your area? Sometimes it's worth a switch depending, though I found the inability to verify hits extremely frustrating when I played.

I've always wanted a RC Helis just cause they look cool. As far as getting into the whole RC Hobby thing I'm not sure if that's my cup of tea. The airsoft community out here plays outlaw wherever they can. I'd rather play paintball and be in an actual field that is made for it and has some safety measures in play. The milsim look/feel of airsoft is cool though.

Yeah I have noticed that hardcore milsim types around here are typically pretty lax when it comes to certain aspects of safety - our local paintball milsim club wear airsoft glasses instead of masks even though they're shooting .68 at about 400fps o_O

So I'm in a bad state and could use some prayer. Career is dead in the water and I have no real job, struggling to believe things will improve. I'm 29, stuck with my parents, no wife or house, no money, no career, no fix in sight. Many old classmates I was always considered better than are doing great work wise so I can't blame the economy. I'm not happy and it's been this way for a year now. I'm worried that I'll have a breakdown or something.

All this despite supposedly being a super ultra smart and talented guy. Apparently a high IQ doesn't count for much. Well... of course it doesn't. Hard work has always trumped talent. Which sucks.

I know what's causing it all - chronic "procrastination" (it's much more than that) caused by deep fears and beliefs instilled since early childhood. I can vividly remember the experiences that caused it. What it means is that on an extremely deep level I don't believe that hard work and dedication will ever pay off. It's irrational, but I just don't. Even though I acknowledge it intellectually. You could call it a mental illness. I'd trade this for being stupid, talentless and a strong work ethic any day. This is like having a McLaren with no keys - at least a Daihatsu will get somewhere.

The worst part is being smart enough to see exactly what's going on but effectively powerless to change it. Where do I get a new brain?

Wow dude that's some powerful stuff. I will be sure to lift you up in prayer. I can't say much since I'm only 21 and still in school. I can imagine that it must very hard as a 29 year old man that has to live at home. It challenges everything that you are as a man. Stay strong and stay close to the Lord. God's plan can be very hard to understand some times, if not most of the time, but we have to trust in Him to lead us.

"What it means is that on an extremely deep level I don't believe that hard work and dedication will ever pay off. It's irrational, but I just don't."

Proverbs 12:24-25
"Work hard and become a leader;
be lazy and become a slave.
Worry weighs a person down;
an encouraging word cheers a person up."

Hey guys I have a 2 prayer requests.

First, my grandpa was admitted to the hospital today, I don't know very many detail but he is covered head to toe in a rash, is very sick, and has very low blood pressure.
Then, a close friend of mine found out yesterday that her mother stopped responding to chemo and was told that she would be lucky to see the end of next week. She isn't a believer and to my knowledge her mother isn't either

vijil - gotcha in prayer brother. I have no idea what or how you are being active in your service to Christ but I do know that I have found a great deal of satisfaction and purpose for life in general in volunteering in the prison ministry I have been with for a while now. prayer, study, action I'm sure you are good on the first two but haven't really heard much in the third, or I've missed it and then I do apologize. I've come to believe the three in equal parts create a balanced life (some would say a "Christian life" but that's our life anyways, isn't it?) and if one is not in proportion with the others....

anyways, for what it matters. I count you as a success, a man your age holding to his faith in the world as it is. You're doing alright, none of the other stuff is as important in comparison.

Andrew - praying as requested. the same goes for you to, brother.

Prayed xdarkk.

Thanks for the kind words mark, that sure helped. Funny how a single sentence can take the edge off.

In terms of action, I am serving at church and doing a few things here and there. I suppose the issue is that I'm almost in mourning for my lost career - something I've dedicated many years to now and always felt I was born for. It seems further and further from reality. Then again it's always darkest before the dawn so we'll see.

Praying for both request.

Vijil, I'm somewhat in the same boat as you. I'm 28, left a career to serve in the ministry and now seeing my hard saved up money going to seminary where the teachers state I will learn more from the books I had to buy for the class then from them....okay?? I'm also single, no one really to even pursue marriage and oh yea living with my parents. What keeps me going is that even though I'm broke I'm not poor. Broke is a mindset saying, "I'm only living here for a moment." Poor is a life style. I totally understanding mourning a career. Keep strong in the faith and pray for God to kick you in your in your pants brother.

@vijil - I've been there before. When I first graduated from college it took me almost 2 years to land a job and even then it was just as a "temp worker" for a hiring agency that outsourced "temp workers" to other companies. A year later the girl I thought I would marry ended our relationship which I thought was bad. Little did I know that 10 months later my dad would be called home by our Lord. In the midst of all these things rather than feeling far from God I felt closer and I remember every day just spending time in quiet prayer and reflection. This prayer time and the support of friends and family especially my Christian community really helped me through these trials.

Remember what Scripture says:

"But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well." - Matthew 6:33

"Consider the ravens: They do not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barn; yet God feeds them. And how much more valuable you are than birds!" - Luke 12:24

Spend some quiet time in prayer with God asking Him for the grace for His will to be done in your life. Sometimes the situation we find ourselves in is exactly the situation God wants us to be in. Above all praise Him in everything both good and bad. Even in the hardships of life give praise to our God.

Pretty interesting read brother.

So a lot of people have been asking me what my plans are after seminary, I have at lest 2.5 years left. You know every time some one asks me what I plan on doing the very first thing I think about is PAINTBALL! I mean I could continue with the Army Reserve chaplain deal and open my own field, my goal would be to open a non-profit one. Or I could try to just go active duty army and have a "guaranteed" pastoral job or try to become a pastor for a church. I really don't know exactly what I would want to do but really the first thing that comes to mind is paintball.

I would love to change the paintball scene you know. Build it up to be more of a community sport. I'm tired of paintball being so expensive and I'm not saying having one non-profit field would change the entire sport but...I don't know I guess its a dream of mind. I would love to have a field that each month supports another non-profit program like Wounded Warriors. I mean just think about it, every time you play its a tax writ off. Having a field that incorporates more of a discipleship mentality with the younger players. Offering leadership courses for players and be more of a outreach then just a place you play the sport at. I would love to be able to coach teams again...thats the part of paintball that I really do miss.

Need some prayer warriors brothers and sisters. Some guy last night drove a car into a store in a busy tourist district out here in Guam. He than got out of the car and began stabbing tourists. 3 people were killed and 11 others were injured including an 8 month old and a 3 year old. All the victims were Japanese tourists.

Please pray for the victims, their families, the perpetrator (he appears to be in his early 20s) and his families. Things like this just don't happen on our little island of Guam. But now it has and our island community is shakened by it.
